10 Places to celebrate World Gin Day in Liverpool

Gin: everyone’s new favourite tipple. Although it’s certainly not new, it’s been around since the 13th century! Now we know that us scousers love a tipple or seven so we’ve listed a few of our favourite places for GIN-spiration for World Gin Day on Saturday 10th May 2017:

First off we have to mention our mates at Liverpool Gin, literally stocked everywhere now in the city and produced organically right here in Liverpool. Who doesn’t love a liver bird on a gin bottle?

1. The Alchemist, Brunswick Street

We all know that The Alchemist’s cocktails are the stuff Instagram posts are made of and their infamous Light Bulb Moment certainly doesn’t disappoint. The cocktail arrives billowing dry ice, inside a science beaker where Gin is mixed with lemon & ginger beer to make it a firey treat for all the senses.

2. Ropewalks Lounge,  Hanover Street

Ropewalks Lounge on Hanover Street have created a cocktail thats as iconic as our city’s emblem; The Scouse Bird. Featuring Liverpool Gin, Cointreau & passion fruit it’s delicious! It doesn’t get much more Scouse than that.

3. Botanical Garden, New Bird Street

All fans of the juniper berry tipple will love the Gin Garden in the Baltic Triangle. The garden hosts all sorts of Gin concoctions which include the only HOT G&T to feature on this list; Portobello Road Gin, tonic syrup & boiling water, served with an orange twist and juniper berries. Perfect as a nightcap or even just to warm up!

4. Be At One, Seel Street

The French 75 quite possibly the chicest Gin cocktail in the city; Gin, lemon & sugar topped with champagne its a decadent treat that’s sure to please.

5. Neighbourhood Liverpool, Castle Street

Its June, Wimbledon is fast approaching so it’s definitely time to crack out the Pimms! One of Castle Streets most exclusive hangouts has a cocktail that is so quintessentially British: Pimms Fizz. A mix of Beefeater Gin & the ultimate British summer punch Pimms it’s a flavoursome fizzy delight.

6. Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa, Southport Old Road

Formby Hall as launched its very own gin bar which is serving the exclusive Formby Gin. Created with local ingredients from the Formby coastline the Formby gin is delicous. Try it with blackberries instead of junpier and swap the tonic for soda water and its a delicious twist on the classic G&T.

7. Red Door, Berry Street

Situated on Berry Street, Red Door is firmly on the map as a must visit location on any night out. This week they are celebrating the Negroni cocktail which features Portobello Road Gin & Campari.

8. Ex-Directory, Secret Location….

The Guide Liverpool

Ex-Directory

If you ever actually manage to discover the secret location of Ex Directory you are rewarded with some of the most extravagant cocktails in the city. The Lady Penelope mixes Rhubarb Gin with Pineapple for a drink that should make an appearance in a Thunderbirds episode.

9. Mowgli, Water Street & Bold Street

Mowglis delicate and refreshing Rose & Raspberry G&T is the stuff of pink dreams and is the perfect accompyment to the epic amounts of Indian street food we order and inhale.

10. Kingdom, Harrington Street

Kingdom Harrington Street Liverpool

One of the city’s chicest clubs pulls out all the stops with an impressive cocktail menu. Our favourite is the More Marmalade blends Sipsmith Gin, fresh lemon & orange marmalade together for a tangy Gin cocktail.

As always, there are loads of other Liverpool haunts to get your Gin fix at, this is a small sample of some of our favourites! How are you celebrating World Gin Day? Let us know @TheGuideLpool
