Discover the world on your plate with these tasty dishes from all four corners of the globe.

Liverpool has long been known as a cultural melting pot and as a result of our maritime import history and thirst for trying something new, you can now dine out on a different continent every night, right here in the city. From American pancakes for breakfast to Japanese Sushi for lunch and a good old fashioned, British roast for dinner, there’s a dish to suit every type of dining situation. From family celebrations to intimate first dates and business lunches to impress, grab your chop sticks, pull up a chair and check out our pick of the best Liverpool restaurants.

Here’s 11 Liverpool restaurants offering a taste of world cuisine…

1  – Spain: Catalan Tapas at Neon Jamon

We’re starting our culinary journey on Berry Street as Neon Jamon serves up the most amazing tapas menu that transports diners to the packed bars of Barcelona. We can’t get enough of the Iberico Viejo and salt cod tortilla on the 2 for £10 lunch menu. Find out more here.

2 – Italy: Join the Italian Club

Liverpool restaurants

The Italian Club, Bold Street has a stellar reputation for producing traditional Italian dishes that make you feel right at home. The cosy dining room, lively atmosphere and delicious daily specials (have you tried Martino’s Breakfast Calzone?!) will draw you in for a taste of Italy. Menus and more here.

3 – Lebanon: Enjoy a Lebanese feast at Bakchich

Now on Williamson Square (as well as Bold Street) Bakchich produces culinary rainbows with its Lebanese Street Food. The freshest ingredients come together in big portions of nourishing mezze, meat dishes such as kofta and shish and don’t miss out on manakeesh flat breads baked fresh in house. Menus here.

4 – India: Tiffin for two at Mowgli

If you still haven’t been to Mowgli…what are you doing? You absolutely need to taste Indian Street food done proper! Both the Water Street and Bold Street kitchens offer a range of small dishes including gun powder chicken and chat bombs, plus more filling curries such as the Mowgli showstopper, Bunny Chow! Check it out here.

5 – China: Dine on a Chinese banquet at Chy

There are now 3 Chy restaurants across the city and Chy, Lark Lane is easily one of the busiest restaurants in the city, with a constant stream of families, couples and groups looking for the ultimate Chinese banquet. All the traditional Chinese dishes your little heart could desire are available here and you lot rave about the siu mais, crispy seaweed and chilli prawns in particular! Menus here.

6 – Thailand: Thai from Tiger Rock

If you’re a bit indecisive when it comes to choosing a place to dine, get yourselves down to Tiger Rock Hawker, Smithdown Road for a big old bowl of East Asian cuisine. Liverpool restaurants are known for being pretty diverse but here you can dine on Malaysian, Thai, Chinese and more, all in one seriously stylish place. More info here.

7 – Argentina: Meet Argentinian

Okay lets talk steak, in particular lets talk juicy, rich Argentinian steak because there’s only one place to fully appreciate it and it has to be Meet Argentinian Steakhouse on Brunswick Street. Meet keep their dishes simple and their meat cooked to absolute perfection. With fresh salads, home cooked fries and a little peppercorn sauce, what more could you ask for? Check it out for yourself here.

8 – UK: Traditional British classics at Hanover Street Social

How can you not drool at that mash and gravy image right there? Hanover Street Social on Hanover Street (unsurprisingly) produce some of the most lip-smacking comfort food around. From home made pies to crispy pork belly and classic salads, traditional British cooking never tasted so good. See the menus here.

9 – USA: Burgers n’ Brisket at Slim’s Pork Chop Express

Get your American fix with burgers and brisket at Slim’s Pork Chop Express, Seel Street. With monthly crayfish boil nights, the best mac n’ cheese around and burgers that will genuinely blow your mind (check out the Three Storms!) if you’re in need of a big fill, this is the place to go. Drool on the menu here.

10 – Vietnam: Ramen with a twist at Izakaya

Newly opened on Castle Street, Izakaya offers sushi and Japanese dishes with a twist. How utterly divine does the beef shin ramen look above? Perfect for a quick lunch stop or post work catch up, diners can enjoy Katsu curry, steam pork belly bao and teriyaki dishes and finish off with a citrus sponge and pistachio ice-cream! Menus and more here.

11 – Mexico: Lucha Libre Mexican

There is nothing we don’t love about Lucha Libre, Wood Street. The kick-ass restaurant is everything you’d hope for in a Mexican eatery, bright, stylish, comfortable and effortlessly cool. The food matches the description too, delicious quesadillas, tacos, burritos, tostados and tonnes of dirty fries are served up as a feast for the sense. Get involved here.
