12 free things to do in Liverpool with the kids over summer holidays

Now the schools have broken up, the challenge is going to be keeping kids entertained over the summer holidays.

Even if you’re planning to get away, there are still a lot of weeks to fill and that can be expensive.

We’re lucky here because we have fabulous parks like Calderstones, Sefton, Princes and Greenbank, Croxteth and Stanley Park, and Birkenhead Park. The waterfront and Albert Dock are great for getting out for a walk or a bike ride (don’t forget to get a selfie on one of the dock’s giant deckchairs), as well as beautiful beaches at Formby and Crosby where you can go Iron Men spotting, Hoylake, West Kirby, and New Brighton which make for great free picnic spots.

To help keep the spending down a bit without having to miss out on some family fun, here are 12 more free things to do in and around Liverpool with the kids over summer …
