15 unmissable events happening in Liverpool this Spring

The clocks have gone back and with all these brilliant events to check out, Spring has definitely sprung in Liverpool.

Fresh, sunny days and signs of Spring have finally arrived on Merseyside as we welcome tonnes of days out, festivals and music back to the city’s outdoor spaces.  Spring might just be the most glam season in Liverpool as we dress up to the nines for the Rando Health Grand National, dust off our sunnies for the Tall Ships Regatta at Albert Dock and prepare to party ‘en Francais’ style as the Bordeaux Wine Festival takes over the Pier Head for the very first time. There’s something for everyone this Springtime in Liverpool, from food and drink to family fun runs in the park.

Here’s 15 unmissable events happening in Liverpool this Spring…..

1 – Easter Panto Fun

Jack and the Beanstalk

Ray Quinn will be leading the all-star cast in Jack and The Beanstalk at The Epstein Theatre this Easter with LHK Productions. The Easter panto will be scaling new heights at the Hanover Street venue from Fri 30 March – Sun 8 April 2018.

Also, Steps star, Lee Latchford Evans takes on the role of Prince Charming as Cinderella opens at St Helens Theatre Royal for a boot scooting family panto from 29th March until 15th April 2018.

2 – Randox Health Grand National 2018

It’s back! The most glam weekend in the Merseyside calendar, The Randox Health Grand National 2018 returns to Aintree from Thursday 12th to Saturday 14th April 2018 for three days of fillies, fascinators and of course, plenty of prosecco. Tickets have flown out for this years meeting, but there’s a few left here, if you’re quick.

3 – Liverpool Spring Festival

Sefton Park will come alive with the sights and smells of local independent food and drink, fun Spring activities and more  on 28th-29th April 2018 as the Liverpool Spring Festival returns with something for all the family. Click here to get your tickets for a weekend of fun at Sefton Park. 

4 – The Three Festivals Tall Ships Regatta 2018

The River Mersey will, again be littered with all manner of ships, boats and vessels on 25-28th May 2018 as The Three Festivals Tall Ships Regatta 2018 sails into town. Returning for the 5th time, this May Bank Holiday weekend will be full of Irish, French and good old scouse festival fun. Click here to find out more. 

5 – The Vamps, Echo Arena

Calling all Vampettes! The Vamps are back in Liverpool for a one-night-only gig at the Echo Arena on 2nd May 2018. True to their ‘affordability’ promise to fans, there are tickets available for less than £15 which we think is a steal to be able to spend the night busting some moves to your fave tracks. 6 – Bordeaux Wine Festival

Making it’s UK debut in Liverpool, the Fete le Vin, Europe’s leading wine festival will take over our stunning Pier Head on the final May Bank Holiday weekend (25-18th May) bringing with it an air of sophistication. 7 – Mad Pride 2018

Back for its third year and even bigger, better and more bonkers than ever, Liverpool Mental Health Consortium presents, Liverpool Mad Pride, a thrilling line-up of circus-themed performances comes to District on Saturday 21st April 2018. If you’re looking for an opportunity to let loose and show off your acrobatic skills, this is it! More details here. 

8 – Adventure Dock Grand Opening

Fancy being amongst the first to take on more than 50 joined-up inflatable obstacles, including the Tire Run, Ninja Jump and Dragon Tail this Spring? Adventure Dock, opening on 5th May 2018 is set to be the must-visit attraction at Albert Dock for families. Click here to get a sneak peek.

9 – The Royal Wedding Street Parties

Whether you’re a Royalist or not, on Saturday 19th May, Prince Harry is set to marry Meghan Markle and Liverpool City Council are encouraging us all to throw a huge street party. The council has dropped charges for road closures for the day to help bring people together in one big celebration. Find out more here. 

10 – Bongo’s Bingo 3rd Birthday featuring Kelis

Have you heard the news? Not only is Bongo’s Bingo celebrating it’s third birthday with a 6 night extravaganza starting on 25th May 2018……but Johnny and the team have only gone and gotten a HUGE international star to celebrate with. None other than Kelis will be at Bramley Moore Dock for all the bingo madness! All the info here. 

11 – Run For The 96

Get your trainies on and join in with one of the most fun and poignant family 5k events in Merseyside. The Run for the 96. Kicking off on a Saturday (12th May 2018) for the first time, this family friendly coming together of red and blue at Stanley Park is joined by a brand new event on Wirral this year too. 12 – LightNight Liverpool 2018

Fancy a free, one night art festival at multiple venues right across the city, after dark? LightNight returns to the city on 15th May when people, places and city spaces are transformed in all manner of creative ways with over 100 free performances, exhibitions, workshops and more. 13 – Steam on the Dock

Steam on the Dock is back at Albert Dock this May and its bigger and better than ever before! Bringing the UK’s only inner-city steam rally, with over 30 steam engines, boats and even a train, to our beautiful waterfront on May 6-7th 2018, Steam on the Dock is a fab day out for all ages. 14 – Hairspray at the Liverpool Empire

We love nothing more than a good sing and a curly blow and Liverpool Empire welcomes a musical that combines the two perfectly. 15 – Echo & the Bunnymen, Liverpool Philharmonic Hall

It’s no surprise to find that tickets for Echo & the Bunnymen at the Liverpool Phil, have flown out.
