With more world cuisines available on our doorstep, we’re becoming firm fans of more weird and wonderful ingredients and dishes than ever before. While we’d never trade in our signature scouse or a full English, you have to admit, these top 9 dishes sound pretty awesome too!

1 – Chocolate Hot Dog, NYL Restaurant & Cocktail Bar

2 – Bunny Chow, Mowgli
Known as the Mowgli show-stopper, this South African/Indian rail workers fave bite is a curry packed full of chicken, potatoes and is served inside a bread loaf. Proving there’s nothing you can’t put on a butty, this has to be seen and tasted to be believed. Menus and more here.
3 – Halloumi Fries, Baltic Market
If you haven’t tried the infamous Baltic Market Halloumi fries with various chutneys and sauces, are you even scouse? The craze for these golden sticks of loveliness has been off the scale since Baltic Market first served them up earlier this year. 4 – Lo Pan Loco Pizza, Santa Maluco
Santa Maluco, Castle Street, are no stranger to unusual pizza toppings, having created the first ever scouse pizza (and it was divine) they’ve upped the ante with the Lo Pan Loco! How does curry sauce, mozzarella, siu mai, fresh chillies and spring onions sound? Give it a go here.
5 – Massive Cock (chicken) MK II, Yard & Coop
Ahem, yeah there’s a whole load of chicken stacking up at Yard & Coop, Hanover Street. Fancy taking on the ‘Massive Cock MK II? This double stacked burger features chicken thigh and breast, cheese sauce, hash browns, IPA rings, battered salty jalapenos, pickles, mustard, sriracha mayo and garnished with……a mini chicken burger, fries AND sweet potato fries! 6 – Cauliflower Mash Up, Maray
Maray is famous the city over for its genius veggie dishes that burst with flavour and while you might see cauliflower on the menu and meh, you’d be truly missing out at Maray. We can’t get enough of the cauli, flaked almonds, pomegranate, tahini, yoghurt, harissa and fresh herbs that’s fit on it’s own or accompanying any fish or meat dish too. Nom. Check out the menu here.
7 – Pumpkin Gelato, Kaspa’s
It’s the time of year where we’ve come to expect Pumpkin Spice EVERYTHING, but ice-cream, or more so gelato? That’s a new one on us! Dessert emporium, Kaspa’s, Victoria Street has released this orange monster on the city just in time for Halloween and it looks fit! 8 – Stir Fried Morning Glory, Pho
We’re not making these names up you know! Bold Street eatery, Pho actually offers a Vietnamese side dish called Rau muống xào which translates into English as Stir Fried Morning Glory and is actually water spinach in garlic. If that’s not a first date restaurant set-up, we don’t know what is! The menu is chokker full of unusual ingredients and additional dishes are added making each visit a new experience. We’re all familiar with bagels, breakfast and brunch circles of yumminess that don’t quite feel as stodgy as bread and can be slathered with philly, peanut butter and the like. But have you been to The Bagelry, Nelson Street and viewed the phenomenal rainbow bagels? We don’t care how sh*t your day is, these little wonders will put a big fat smile on your face with ease.
