Atomic Kitten re-record ‘Whole Again’ to support England in the World Cup
We all know the words, it is the fourth biggest selling single from a girl group of all time after all!
Now Liverpool’s own Atomic Kitten have re-recorded the lyrics to their huge number one single ‘Whole Again’ to support Gareth Southgate and his boys, watch it above!
You’d think it would be ‘Vindaloo’, ‘World in Motion’ or even Ant & Dec’s ‘On The Ball’ that would have had England fans going crazy this week. But no, joining the King of footie anthems, ‘Three Lions’ in fan zones, pubs and terraces across the land is a song we all know and love from way back in 2001.
It was the song that propelled Liverpool girl group, Atomic Kitten to the top of the charts and sold over 1 million copies in the UK alone, we are talking ‘Whole Again’.
Lyrics in the chorus have been changed to support England’s captain and the countries current hero, Gareth Southgate “Looking back on when we first met; I cannot escape and I cannot forget; Southgate, you’re the one; you still turn me on; football’s coming home again.”
Atomic Kitten girls, Natasha & Liz, decided once again to reunite and re-record the track to support the lads in Russia as they go head to head in tonight’s semi-final with Croatia, hoping to battle it out with France in Sunday’s World Cup final.
Atomic Kitten formed with original members Natasha Hamilton, Liz McLarnon and Kerry Katona in 1998 and have since enjoyed success across the globe, with three UK number one singles and millions sold worldwide, with hits that include ‘Whole Again’, ‘Eternal Flame’, ‘Right Now’ and ‘The Tide is High’.
Have a listen above and let’s get it to the top of the charts, next to ‘Three Lions’. The Lightning Seeds, who or course also hail from Liverpool currently have two versions of their huge football anthem in the top 5 of the iTunes chart. Could Atomic Kitten be joining them?
Kick off is tonight at at 7pm and you can check out 21 big screens in Liverpool showing the game live here.
