Can you help this photographer capture a day in the life of our city?

A multi-award winning British street photographer is inviting the people of Liverpool to join him in a unique social experiment: to capture the lives and times of Liverpool in a day.

Mark Waugh is calling on smartphone snappers and amateur photographers across Merseyside to grab their cameras on Saturday, 20th October to capture what Liverpool looks like in 2018.

The social experiment – called A Day In The Life – will bring together thousands of images of the people and unique places that make Liverpool so unique – from football fans to students, from market stalls to high end shops.

Afterwards, the images will be printed out and transformed into a piece of art by a UK artist, to provide a permanent testimony of this day in history.

Mark, whose work has been recognised at the prestigious Press Photographer of the Year awards and has appeared in The Guardian, The Times and The Daily Mirror, says: “I am delighted that the project is coming to Liverpool. It’s a vibrant city full character with a lot history attached to it. There will be plenty to capture within 24 hours which I am really looking forward to, from the quirky nightlife to the new and old architecture that Liverpool has to offer.

“Everyone is welcome to get involved in the campaign, whether you just want to take a few snaps on your smartphone or bring along your high res cameras to capture the city and its people. Each image tells its own story and all will be commemorated into a unique piece of art to remember the day.”

Inspired by the blog Humans Of New York, which has 7.9 million Instagram followers and 18 million Facebook followers, this definitive snapshot of Liverpool is the idea of UK-wide company Cartridge Save.

Ian Cowley, managing director of Cartridge Save says: “The pace of modern life means we rarely take a moment to appreciate what is happening around us. This project is a brilliant opportunity to take a step back and just be in the moment.

“It’s the people that make each city so unique. We want the people of Liverpool to showcase what happens over the course of 24 hours in their hometown. A Day In The Life will take a forever snapshot of a day in the city’s history, so we can remember the people, the events, and the memories in a fantastic piece of art.”
