Christmas might be over for another year – but there’s still plenty to do in Liverpool. 2023 is already looking like a phenomenal year for our city, January already has some boss events lined up… and that’s just the start for the year ahead… did we mention we got Eurovision?

Take a look at what is going on this January in Liverpool for inspiration on what you can get up to.

Hot Wheels Monster Trucks – M&S Bank Arena 

The newly launched Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live Glow Party will light up Liverpool in 2023.

Fans of all ages will be dazzled as they watch the iconic Hot Wheels Monster Trucks light up the floor in this one-of-a-kind, high-energy Glow Party experience when the huge rip-roaring trucks roll into the M&S Bank Arena in January 2023.

Ravin Fit returns 

Ravin’ Fit is the most fun, exhilarating work out there is. The classes launched in early 2018 and gradually developed into what it is today. They are well-known all over the north West, with Lee Butler bringing you “a workout that feels like a night out”! 

With Lee on the decks playing all your favourite spine-tingling club anthems that are sure to bring back some amazing memories, you will be pushed through a tough one hour aerobic workout by their experienced personal trainers. Expect your workout to feel like a night-out but also be ready to burn some SERIOUS calories.

The Scouse Jack and Beanstalk continues at Liverpool’s Royal Court

The Royal Court Christmas show is back baby, and it’s not going anywhere until 28 January due to popular demand! 

Jack’s mum is fuuumin’. That little divvy has taken their only cow to St John’s and instead of selling him for cash, he brought back a handful of beans… But Jack’s problems are only just beginning.

The Gruffalo and The Gruffalos Child: Film with Live Orchestra – Liverpool’s Philharmonic Hall

Terry Davies conducts the Orchestra for René Aubry’s inspired scores for this wonderful animated double-bill, based on the much-loved children’s books written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler. 

Join Mouse on a daring adventure through the deep dark wood, where he is confronted by three hungry animals who each thinks that the mouse looks good! And the magic doesn’t stop there, as the Gruffalo’s child ignores her father’s warnings one wild and windy night and goes in search of the Big Bad Mouse…

Still time to catch the Rock n Roll panto at the Everyman Theatre

The legendary Everyman rock n roll panto is back for 2022 and this year the Everyman is telling the tale of Red Riding Hood from Friday 25 November 2022 to Saturday 14 January 2023. You might think you know the story of Red Riding Hood, but this is the tale Everyman style!

There’s outlandish and sparkling costumes, plenty of plot twists and surprises, and full to the brim with musical hits performed by a company of supremely talented actor musicians.

Doggy Brunch is back at Nova Scotia

Doggy Brunch will unite dog lovers from across the city to Nova Scotia. Each paying adult receives a breakfast brioche and warm drink whilst their pooch is served a doggie breakfast and pupachino – all dogs eat and drink for free. 

Set in the stunning Mann Island building in the shadow of the World Museum and the spectacular Three Graces on Liverpool’s iconic waterfront, the venue serves great breakfasts, lunches, small plates, hearty mains and delicious deserts with a wide range of drinks and signature cocktails.

The award-winning Bongo’s Bingo unites players for nights of magic and mayhem in a wild immersive extravaganza. The original bingo rave phenomenon has rejuvenated a quintessentially quaint British pastime featuring nostalgia-soaked revelry, rave rounds, dance-offs, audience participation, en masse Karaoke and crazy prizes in a dose of pure and unadulterated escapism

The annual Liverpool shindig with on and off piste party experts Snowbombing, ahead of Jonny and the crew embarking to Austria in April for the famed festival itself on the slopes.

Chinese New Year

The year of the rabbit is upon us – did you know Liverpool is home to the oldest Chinese community in Europe? It is not long now until everyone gathers around our impressive Chinese Ceremonial Arch, which marks the entrance to Chinatown, to celebrate this age-old tradition. 

The symbolic Chinese lanterns will decorate the heart of Chinatown, buildings will be lit up red in honour of this age-old tradition, the dragon and unicorn will parade the streets and the stage returns to Great George Square to host a programme of live performances throughout the day.

WHEN: Sunday 22 January.

Pure Brilliance: The Boodles Story at Lady Lever Art Gallery 

The exhibition will showcase the jewellery brand’s 225-year story and show how Liverpool has helped shape the company’s growth, from much-loved family jeweller to purveyors of some of the most stunning jewels in the world.  

See how the heritage of Liverpool’s vibrant and creative jewellery industry in the late 19th century created a market for quality jewellery and metalwork, for which Boodles soon acquired a reputation. Stunning pieces of historic jewellery from Liverpool makers and racing trophies made by Boodles will illustrate the early years of the firm.
