Haydock Park play host to first ever ‘Betfred Super League Mascot Derby’
Haydock Park Racecourse has teamed up with Betfred Super League to host a unique fixture of ‘Betfred Super League at the Races’ on Saturday, June 24th.
As well as six races on the track, the card will feature the ‘Betfred Super League Mascot Derby’ at 6pm, a highly competitive one furlong race which will see Betfred Super League mascots take to the turf.
Entries include Wigan Warriors’ Max the Warrior, Wolfie for Warrington Wolves, Boots for St Helens, Leeds Rhinos’ Ronnie the Rhino, amongst others.
The mascots will parade in the Paddock before the race where the ‘Best Turned Out’ mascot will be chosen and a short parade will also take place in front of the grandstands before they line up on the furlong marker. A full form card will be available in the race programme so you can follow and bet on your favourite mascot alongside full race commentary. There will also be a fanfare entry into the Winners Enclosure and a presentation after the race will take place for the Betfred Super League Mascot Derby winner!
We will also be hosting players from all the top Betfred Super League teams and the trophy will be available for photographs in the Paddock.
Jason Fildes, General Manager of Haydock Park Racecourse said: “It’s great to bring two major sports in the North West together. We have always wanted to host a rugby at the races evening and it’s brilliant to have the support from all the team at Betfred and the Rugby Football League.
Mark Pearson, Head of Media and Communications at Betfred said: “Betfred are delighted to bring their new partners at Super League to a night at the races and where better than Fred’s favourite racecourse, Haydock Park. Hopefully the Betfred Super League Mascot Derby will become a regular feature of Haydock’s summer racing calendar”.
Following a six-card evening of racing, the focus turns to the Paddock where resident DJ Jeff Wall will be playing the latest tunes and classic hits for a ‘Party in the Paddock’.
