Liverpool’s buskers get together with Aloft Hotel for special track

Liverpool, November 30, 2015 – Aloft Liverpool Hotel today announce release of “I’m Coming Home” a result of their Busker Challenge, an initiative to showcase talent from the streets of Liverpool and raise money for charity over the festive period.  We sent our cameras to the very special recording at Parr Street Studios and you can see the results on Bay TV Liverpool at 8.30pm this Thursday.

Aloft Liverpool took to the streets where they discovered four individual aritsts, offering them a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to collababorate and showcase their talent. Under the mentorship of Esco Williams, MOBO Unsung award winner, they were asked to write and record a Christmas song in less than 24. They were then taken to the world famous Parr Street Studios for recording, which has previously been used by the likes of Oasis, Arctic Monkeys and Coldplay.

The buskers involved in the project were aged between 14-20, including Sam Olyott, Daisy Gill, Katie Johnson and Toby Falla, and together they provided vocals, guitar, keys, cello, beat box and drums.

The track, entitled “Coming Home” is a festive track written around the busker’s idea of Christmas and creating a sense of togetherness. It is accompanied by a music video outlining the project and will be available to download via iTunes with all proceeds going to Macmallian, a UK based charity providing cancer support, awareness and research.

See how the buskers got on by watching The Guide Liverpool Thursday night on Bay TV.

Andrew Kendrick, General Manager of Aloft Liverpool said, “Aloft shares our guests’ love of music and is committed to helping them discover new talent.  You only have to take a short stroll from the hotel and you’re at the famous Cavern Club; Liverpool is alive with creativity and musical talent. We wanted to do a project that showcased the talent on the streets, presenting them with an opportunity they had never previously experienced.  We are so pleased with the track and hope to raise lots of money for a great cause.”

The project is an extension of the brand’s music programme Live At Aloft Hotels, which supports emerging talent from all over the world. This year, Aloft Liverpool has also run further initiatives to support emerging talent including The Best of Liverpool and the hosting of All We Are’s EP launch.
