Look inside Liverpool’s new vault at our Royal Liver Building
The city’s first safe deposit box facility has opened at Liverpool’s Royal Liver Building.
Liverpool Vaults offers 1,000 safe deposit lockers, protected by cutting edge security and sophisticated technology, which surpasses the standards set by banks.
The facility allows private individuals and businesses to safeguard their most valued possessions in a secure vault.
Located in the famous building’s basement, the space was once a secret vault guarding Royal Liver’s records. When the Royal Liver Building was built, a vault was constructed in the basement as an integral part of its security.
It’s now been given a £1 million makeover by Liverpool Vaults, who have transformed the space in to a state-of-the-art purpose built safe deposit box facility.
It includes surveillance technology such as seismic shock sensors, round-the-clock monitoring and biometric identification technology.
Access to the high security vault will be granted through a navigation of personal identification, biometric scanner, customer code and digital photo recognition.
The vault will be manned on-site by highly trained security professionals in conjunction with an outside security company, ensuring round the clock 24-hour security protection.
Clients can visit the vault 7 days a week, with unlimited free access. The facility offers various box sizes to suit all client requirements, with rental from less than £3 per week and discounts available for long-term rentals.
Smaller boxes are ideal for the storage of jewellery, cash, valuable coins and computer back-up discs while the mid-range boxes are designed to keep papers, house deeds and other important documents as well as larger valuables.
The larger boxes are ideal for items such as luxury watches and jewellery in boxes, stamp dealers, paperwork and valuable artwork which needs to be stored securely.
Co-founder Séamus Fahy said: “We are delighted to open a safe deposit facility in Liverpool, especially in such an iconic location as the Royal Liver Building. There was already a vault in the basement which once guarded Royal Liver’s records, so this location was perfect for us.
“With many major banks no longer offering safe deposit box services to customers, we have seen a huge demand for our facilities, as companies and individuals look to secure their valued possessions safely.
“Our goal from the beginning was to create a world-class independent safe deposit box facility. Liverpool Vaults gives clients complete discretion, unparalleled security and absolute piece of mind.”
Co-founder David Walsh, added: “With many major banks no longer offering safe deposit box services to customers, we have seen a huge demand for our facilities, as companies and individuals look to secure their valued possessions safely.
“The Liverpool opening is part of our ambitious plans for further growth across the UK. We are looking forward to establishing the vault in the city and providing a much-needed service which allows customers to store their valuable and irreplaceable possessions.”
The Liverpool vault is run by parent company Merrion Vaults, Europe’s largest independently owned safe deposit company.
Established in 2013, the company was founded by entrepreneurs Séamus Fahy and David Walsh after they identified strong demand for the service.
Since opening its first vault in Dublin, Merrion Vaults has expanded across England and Scotland.
The Liverpool opening marks the latest move in a series of new opening for the firm, with vaults already up and running in Glasgow, Newcastle and Dublin.
