Pint or Prosecco in the Sunhine? Here’s 11 Beer Gardens in Liverpool worth a visit
We’re almost too scared to publish this article but if we just whisper it, we might not jinx how utterly amazing the weather has been over the Bank Holiday weekend and into this week.
With the temperature set to soar to 23 this weekend, it’s just too good a reason to write up the best places to soak up the rays with a beer or cocktail in your hand!
Whether it’s a swift half after work or a full on prosecco purge, here is our guide to the best Liverpool bars and restaurants for al fresco drinks and beer gardens.
Oh Me Oh My – Water Street
This former bank at West Africa House has the most amazing roof garden with unrivalled views of the Royal Liver Building. Set on the 8th floor, the garden is open daily from 12 til 7 and serves food until 5pm. Check out www.ohmeohmyliverpool.co.uk
Dovedale Towers – Penny Lane
With regular BBQ’s and a huge beer garden, Dovedale Towers is the perfect, quiet suburban setting to relax with a gin balloon and a burger! Check out their twitter account for regular updates on what’s on. @DovedaleTowers.
Heebie Jeebies – Seel Street
Heebies have recently refurbed their awesome courtyard just in time for the sun making an appearance and with regular live music and tea pot cocktails, who wouldn’t want to pull up an al fresco pew in such an eclectic setting? Search Heebie Jeebies on Facebook for photos of the new space and drinks menus.
MacKenzie’s Whisky Bar – Rodney Street
We’re pretty sure MacKenzie’s is the only bar in Liverpool that has chesterfield couches and wing back chairs in and outside their bar! With a smart two level terrace, this Rodney Street bar boasts over 150 Whiskies, plus cocktails and beers. Check out www.mackenziesbar.co.uk for more info.
Esteban – Lark Lane
Lose yourself in a little corner of the Mediterranean at Esteban, Lark Lane. With humongous bi-fold doors the restaurant atrium can open up onto the beautiful terrace to create a huge outdoor dining and drinks space that is perfect for sangria in the sun. Go to www.estebanlarklane.co.uk for more info.
The Elephant – Woolton
The team at the Elephant and adjoining Liberty Tavern are committed to sourcing local produce and their range of British beers and gin is a brilliant accompaniment to their landscaped garden. With a child friendly atmosphere this village setting is perfect for a late dinner and drinks any night of the week. Check out www.theelephantwoolton.co.uk for reservations.
The Kazimier Gardens – Seel Street
This is one of the city’s hidden gems in our opinion. The word ‘quirky’ is over used nowadays but that word sums up the The Kaz Gardens perfectly. With it’s relaxed atmosphere and unique food & drink menu this is the perfect place to chill in the sunshine. From ice cream floats to cask ales, frozen cocktails and Vietnamese coffees, you simply won’t find another bar menu like it in Liverpool. Add to that the charcoal grill, live music and hipster regulars this is one of the coolest spots in town.
The Sefton Arms – West Derby Village
Known locally as The Sefton, this stalwart of West Derby Village has seen some miraculous make overs in recent years, but its huge beer garden has remained one of the best in the city. Pint and the match down The Sefton, yeah go on then! Check them out on Facebook for current deals.
Red Door Liverpool, Bury Street
Red Door Liverpool has firmly cemented itself in the ‘must go’ places on a night out in the city. Friendly and lively bar staff, a stunning cocktail menu and incredible live music – this bar has added the cool factor to Bury Street. The rooftop terrace is perfect on a sunny day, spacious, chilled and comfortable. The BBQ nights have proven a huge success last summer but for now go and check out one of our favourite rooftop bars and treat yourself to one of the many swanky cocktails on the menu.
The Brittania – Riverside Drive
We love the Brittania, does anyone not have memories of being sat outside on the big steps with a lemonade while your mum and dad enjoyed a summer pint? Knocking out roast dinner come rain or heatwave this family friendly pub has stunning views over the Mersey and an extensive drinks menu. Call 0151 727 8237 for more info.
La Tasca – Queens Square
Who wouldn’t want to while away the hours in a sun trap court yard, sipping espresso martini’s? With a new range of summer drinks (Bloom and Strawbs is our new fave) and delicious tapas to snack on, and it’s own paella bar, La Tasca, Queens Square is the perfect location for a pit stop when out shopping. Go to www.latasca.com for deals and bookings.
So there you have it, now, who’s round is it?
Oh and always drink beer and prosecco in beer gardens responsibly of course!
