Potting Shed, Southport launches in style
Hundreds of guests were given a red hot welcome at the VIP launch of Southport’s newest bar and restaurant.
The red carpet was rolled out on Lord Street for the opening party for Potting Shed Bar & Gardens and FIREPIT Smokehouse & Sports Bar.
Invited guests were greeted by fire performers as they got a first look at the new bars after months of refurbishment work, and an investment of £2.6million by bar specialists Ormsborough Ltd.
The site of the former Sandgrounder has been transformed into two distinctive concepts, including a large rooftop terrace, creating more than 50 jobs.
Potting Shed Bar & Gardens, with its quirky garden theme and indoor shed booth seating, is on the ground floor and specialises in craft beers, cocktails and artisan spirits, and freshly homemade food.
FIREPIT, on the first floor, has Americana décor incorporating classic car parts, neon signage and a custom-built Airstream-style aluminium caravan for private booth dining, and a massive 4 x 2 metre LED wall showing live sports. Its menu focuses on signature US-style dishes from an in-house smoker and wood-burning grill, served alongside an extensive selection of house cocktails, beers and spirits.
There’s also a roof garden with retractable roof and function room so drinkers can make the most of the space whatever the weather.
General manager Garry Parr said the party was a big success. “We’ve been so keen to show everyone what’s been going on here and they were blown away by what we’ve done, especially adding the roof terrace. Potting Shed and FIREPIT are definitely going to be the places to go out in Southport now and because there are two venues, there’s twice as much to try!”
