UK’s biggest touring dance convention is coming to Liverpool

Exhibition Centre Liverpool have announced that Can You Dance? will come to the city for the very first time on Sunday 19 March. The UK’s biggest touring dance convention will be located in the BT Convention Centre.

CYD? was formed 5 years ago by Matt Flint & Tom Shilcock. Matt is a Creative Director & Choreographer for TV, Film & Theatre including Strictly Come Dancing and Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway. Tom, a professional dancer has danced for artists including Jason Derulo, Rita Ora, Meghan Trainor, Take That, Cheryl and many more.

Can You Dance? has been a huge success in other areas of the country and now Matt & Tom are looking forward to discovering Liverpool’s young dance talent.

“We want to offer opportunities to young dancers that they wouldn’t usually have. By bringing our conventions to them they get the top choreographers as their teachers for the day, something that only usually happens if you are in London” said Tom. Alongside that, they have teamed up with leading dance colleges, last year alone scholarships to top colleges worth over £500,000 were handed out at the conventions, giving people the chance to train professionally for free. There is also the opportunity to be scouted for ambassador roles and other exciting awards.

The day itself consists of master classes from industry leading choreographers, dancers and teachers. An interactive exhibition featuring free classes, top dance organisations & performing arts colleges and the opportunity to shop for the latest dancewear. There is the chance to watch the colleges perform and at the end of the day, a competition where dance schools compete for the chance to win the CYD? Champion of champions at the Grand Final in Autumn!
Can You Dance welcomes dancers of all abilities from age 8 upwards!
