Watch: This is your River of Light 2017

The River Mersey was bathed in light on Sunday evening as thousands lined the waterfront for a firework spectacular.

We love nothing more than taking you to the heart of the action when it comes to big city events, and this Bonfire night our cameras we’re literally in the middle of the Mersey! River of Light 2017 kicked off on the Liverpool and Wirral waterfronts with free family friendly fun, from lantern making and face painting to incredible light shows, parades and of course a whole load of drumming.

Watch as our Kate got wrapped up and boarded HMS Charger to get a closer look at the River of Light celebrations that lit up our stunning city skyline. If you look closely you might even see that the moon came out to watch too!

One of the UK’s most successful firework companies, Titanium Fireworks were responsible for lighting up the skies above both sides of the River Mersey for this year’s November 5th celebrations – with a specially commissioned musical display in Liverpool and Wirral. We could see so many people dancing and singing along on the Pier Head and Albert Dock as the specially selected River of Light soundtrack blared out.

We’d like to give our thanks to the crew of HMS Charger for looking after us so well, and also send huge congrats to both Liverpool and Wirral Councils and the Culture Liverpool team for coordinating such a special event. The atmosphere was electric and we hope you all enjoyed a safe and happy bonfire night.
