You could win free bus travel throughout National Catch the Bus Week
After successfully zipping around the city proving its Better By Bus, The Guide Liverpool is jumping on board with National Catch the Bus Week with a free ticket giveaway.
Last week Jay and Kate were challenged by Merseytravel, Arriva and Stagecoach to try out the Better By Bus campaign by swapping the car and taxi’s for as many bus journeys as possible ahead of National Catch the Bus week. Despite not being on a bus since his teenage years and taking a bit of stick from his mates, Jay found the value for money and convenience of bus travel a real surprise.
Regular bus user Kate learned more about where and how to get to new places like Southport and Wirral for fun days out with the kids, while gabbing with strangers and charging her phone on-board. Alright so we got lost a couple of times, but it was a great laugh and we came to the conclusion that it really is Better By Bus! You can check out our Better By Bus vlogs over on The Guide Liverpool Twitter here.

Cllr Ron Abbey, bus lead for Liverpool City Region’s Transport Committee which oversees the work of Merseytravel, said: “People who already use the bus in Liverpool City Region rate it highly with 90 per cent overall customer satisfaction, making it one of the highest performing areas of all those surveyed by independent transport watchdog, Transport Focus. This is great news, but we want to encourage people who don’t catch the bus at all, or only rarely, to give it a go or use it more. We’re using Catch the Bus Week to help showcase the benefits.”
Rob Jones, managing director at Stagecoach Merseyside, Chester and South Lancashire, said: “Better by Bus and Stagecoach is proud to be supporting the nationwide Catch the Bus Week campaign. We want to encourage people to think differently about how they travel and consider the bus for all types of journeys. With so many benefits to catching the bus, from free Wi-Fi to USB charging, there really has never been a better way to hop aboard.”
Howard Farrall, area managing director – Merseyside at Arriva, said: “With the summer holidays approaching, and weather improving, we wanted to use Catch the Bus Week to really promote the benefits of bus travel. Having an initiative such as the ticket giveaway is a great opportunity to entice the people of Liverpool City Region to give catching the bus a go whether it’s for mixing up your daily commute or taking the little ones on a day out.”
