10 of the best Merseyside Pantomimes guaranteed to have you in stitches this Christmas

It’s Christmas Panto season……oh no it isn’t………..yeah it definitely is!

If you’ve not treated your little ones to a Christmas panto performance yet, here’s a quick round up of 10 of the best. Expect drama, dazzling costumes and possibly a good drenching!


1 – Beauty & The Beast Rock n’ Roll Panto, Everyman Theatre


The Everyman Theatre, Hope Street is running their production of Beauty & The Beast starring legendary double act Adam Keast and Francis Tucker right up until January 21st, and as you’d expect with any Everyman production, it’s utterly brilliant!

You’re in for a panto treat as writers Sarah A Nixon and Mark Chatterton have adapted the traditional fairy tale to create a production that will blow your socks off. This Rock ’n’ Roll panto includes a live band and plenty of surprises and chances for you to get up, singalong and dance! 2 – Aladdin, St Helens Theatre Royal

Featuring a host of stars from Essex and afar the St Helens Theatre Royal is staging the sparkliest (is that even a word?) version of Aladdin we’ve ever seen. With regular shows right up until Sunday the 8th of January. TOWIE’s Amy Childs and Harry Derbidge are swapping Sugar Hut for St Helens, but don’t let their reality star status fool you, these two are bringing Essex glamour to the stage with a terrific performance full of slapstick comedy and brilliant one liners.

3 – Snow White, Liverpool Empire Theatre


No Christmas would be complete without a panto trip and one of the biggest stages across the region is hosting a classic winter tale, Snow White. The reviews are in following last night’s gala performance and audiences are in for a musical treat.  The Empire welcomes Hollyoaks actress Jorgie Porter as Snow White, and back by popular demand, Liverpool’s very own girl next door, Radio City Breakfast presenter Leanne Campbell as the Wicked Queen.

4 – Cinderella, Echo Arena


You can’t have a panto without an ugly sister or two and the Echo Arena have some seriously funny ones lined up for this year’s panto, Cinderella. From Friday the 16th to Saturday the 24th of December you can catch local lad, Ray Quinn and Britain’s Got Talent favourites Trip Hazard in this big stage production.

5 – Little Red And The Big Bad Wolf

From Friday the 2nd of December 2016 to Saturday the 7th of January 2017 the Unity Theatre, Hope Place, is showing their unique production of Little Red And The Big Bad Wolf.

6 – A Christmas Carol, The Dome


Grand Central Hall will be showing a production of A Christmas Carol from this Saturday until the 23rd of December. If you’re a fan of Charles Dickens then this is an unmissable treat.

7 – Aladdin Epstein Theatre

Billed as Liverpool’s most magical pantomime, The Epstein Theatre, Hanover Street is now showing a hilarious version of Aladdin that will have even the smallest of theatre goers in absolute stitches. Former Atomic Kitten star, Natasha Hamilton plays Jasmine alongside our very own Mark Byron, ITV2 reality star, Jordan Davies and the gorgeous Sean Smith from X Factor in this riotous, high energy, singalong love story.

You’re going to LOVE Widow Twanky and the stellar performance from local actor, Lewis Pryor as the loveable Wishy Washy. Aladdin runs right over the Christmas period until 8th January. Get your tickets and read more here.


8 – Cinderella, Brindley Theatre, Runcorn


Just kicked off this week, the Brindley is showing a dazzling version of Cinderella starring Liverpool’s favourite ginge Sonia, as Fairy Superior! Expect stunning sets, singalong songs, dazzling costumes and of course a little bit of magic. If all that wasn’t enough…there’s also real ponies!! 9 – Cinderella, Floral Pavilion Theatre, New Brighton


There’s a whole host of stars treading the boards in New Brighton this Winter! This Morning presenter, Alison Hammond stars alongside Channel 5’s Milkshake favourite, Olivia Birchenough as Cinderella comes to life in this family favourite fairytale.

With exceptional performances from Jamie Morris and Tarot Joseph as the hysterical Ugly Sisters, this performance, featuring the cutest Shetland ponies, will be a memorable trip for the whole family. Get your tickets and read more about Cinderella here.


10 – Snow White, Southport Theatre and Conference Centre

Southport theatre fans are in for a huge treat this Christmas as none other than Mr Tumble stars in the 2016 performance of Snow White at the Southport Theatre and Conference Centre! Home and Away actress, Lynne McGranger leaves the aussie weather behind for a stint as the Wicked Queen while Mr Tumble plays the Mirror on the Wall with a whole load of silly antics and old fashioned slapstick comedy.
