11 Liverpool restaurants that are gluten free and Coeliac friendly
Gluten-free dining in Liverpool is easier than you think.
A gluten-free diet isn’t always a choice and can make dining out a bit of a nightmare. Coeliac (pronounced Cee-lee-ack) is an autoimmune disease which affects one in every 100 people. This serious illness is caused by a reaction of the immune system to gluten, a type of protein found in wheat, barley and rye.
If ingested, Coeliac sufferers experience damage to the lining of the stomach, resulting in distressing symptoms such as bloating, diarrhoea, nausea, tiredness, mouth ulcers, sudden or unexpected weight loss and anaemia.
Avoiding these flair up symptoms is a full time occupation for Coeliac sufferers and so dining out can be tricky. However, with more Liverpool restaurants, cafes and bars offering gluten-free options, fuss-free brunch, lunches with the girls and dinner dates are now firmly on the menu.
Here’s 15 Liverpool restaurants serving up gluten-free, Coeliac friendly dishes….
