Love or hate the Liverpool One Christmas Tree, it has one thing that not many other trees do – a bar. Bar Hutte sells hot mulled cider and other festive favourite’s and also has ten Swiss themed chalets, that even come with cuddly luxurious throws to keep the cold out. You can hire the huts for up 2 hours and with up to 12 people. When you have had your fill there head up to Chavasse Park and take a ride on the ice slide, but wear thick undies, nobody likes to be too moist whilst doing their christmas shopping!

Public Enemy are playing the O2…

Public Enemy Photo by Robert Downs (Dec 15)

Hip hop legends Public Enemy have chosen Liverpool as their only North West tour stop. The multi-platinum, five times Grammy Award nominated will play the O2 Academy on the 2nd December with Sound Jar Promotions. For over three decades Public Enemy have earned a reputation of inspiring the disgruntled masses. For many, the band’s message remains as relevant today as it ever was, with Chuck-Ds socio-politically inspired lyrics providing an alternative view to the corridors of power today. Tickets are still available for what is set to be a good’en.

You can go back in time to a Victorian Christmas at Speke Hall…

Speke Hall Christmas

We all love the Christmas Downton Abbey special don’t we,  well go and experience something very similar for yourself as Speke Hall is transformed for the festive season. Open every weekend until 13th December 11am-4 with Christmas Carols, sugar mice making, festive trails and visits from Mr & Mrs Claus themselves this really is the perfect way to get you, and the kids feeling all Christmassy.

There is a big green ogre causing trouble at the Empire…

We all know and love the movie and there aren’t many theatre productions that rival their on screen creators, but trust us Shrek the Musical does just that. Laugh out loud comedy for young and old throughout, with adults being kept on their toes with many ‘older’ gags, and the character of Lord Farquaad played by Gerard Carey most definitely stealing the show. This really is a must see whilst it is here in Liverpool. It runs at the Empire until Saturday 6th December.

He is here in Liverpool Friday 4th & Saturday 5th December

Visit Santa at the most famous Grotto in Liverpool…

We all know and loved the Lewis’s Christmas Grotto, but even though Lewis’s closed it’s doors in 2010 that famous Grotto is still live and well and providing kids and adults alike with lots of festive magic. The original features and displays remain and Santa is as happy to see you as ever. The Lewis’s Christmas Grotto is open daily in the run up to Christmas and in our opinion a Liverpool Crimbo must do, no matter how old you are. Watch our video with Claire Simmo visiting the most famous Grotto this side of Lapland

This year sees writer Fred Lawless return for the 7th consecutive year and this time he takes us to Egypt for ‘Pharaoh ‘Cross the Mersey’ Michael Starke, Lindzi Germaine, Danny O’Brian, Andrew Schofield, Michel Fletcher & Hayley Hampson provide the giggles as the newly refurbished Royal Court provides the backdrop. It runs until January 16th so lots of time to go enjoy.
