12 Reasons to be happy this week

Bank holiday is over, the weather is pretty grim, we have eaten our weight in Easter eggs and the hot crossed buns have been done in.

But don’t be worrying, for starters we live in the greatest city on Earth, and you have all of this to smile about this week…

1 – The Grand National is almost here

It’s less than a fortnight until we all glam up and head to Aintree to have an absolute ball! Who’s got their outfit sorted and more importantly, who are you backing to win the most exciting horse race in the world? Check out our Grand National breakfast deals here. 

2 – Taco Bell has opened on Bold Street

Oh yes you read that right. America’s premium taco brand has made the leap across the pond and has officially opened on Bold St. Get your quesadillas, tacos and burritos made fresh, fast and with a smile right now! Menus and more info here. 

3 – New Liverpool Drama ‘The City and The City’ starts on Friday

Filmed in Liverpool, brand new BBC 2 drama, ‘The City and The City’ starts this Friday and the international cast is headed up by none other than Scouser, David Morrisey. Based on the ‘mind-bending’ novel by China Meiville, this is a must see for the weekend. Info here. 

4 – Is Kylie joining X Factor?

X Factor auditions come to Liverpool this week and with the news that Simon has ditched the previous judges, we’re beside ourselves with excitement to hear rumours that pint-sized pop princess Kylie may well be joining the panel. All the info on local auditions here. 

5 – Thursday is National Burrito Day

Shake up your work lunch or treat the kids this Thursday as it’s National Burrito Day. We’re heading to Savina, Queen Square to tuck into our fave chicken & guac combo most likely washed down with signature cocktails too. Well it’s practically the weekend. Menu here. 

6 – Will you find the Dock Ness Monster?

Heritage on the Dock returns to Albert Dock this week with 4 days of free family friendly fun. Get involved with guided walks, talks, craft sessions, story-time  street theatre and get the chance to discover what lurks beneath the water. All the info here.

7 – Easter Egg Creations

9 – The Vaccines release a new album

Indie Rocker The Vaccines have released their brand new album ‘Combat Sports’ and alongside it a UK Tour too. There’s a limited amount of signed copies online and tour tickets throughout the UK, check it out here. 

10 – Smugglers Cove are serving Peanut & Chocolate Brownies

Served up with salted caramel sauce and ice cream these new additions to the Smugglers Cove menu will really give you something to smile about this week. Add to that the new deli board options, paella and more and you have your perfect swashbuckling evening out.

12 – Ready Player One?

Fancy some cinema magic courtesy of Spielberg himself this week? His latest blockbuster is out now in cinemas across the city and already receiving rave reviews. The science fiction action adventure “Ready Player One,” based on Ernest Cline’s bestseller of the same name is on at FACT, Odeon and more. Go see!
