You’ve got to love May haven’t you? Not one, but two Bank Holiday weekend’s to enjoy, the weather is getting better and if that wasn’t enough to put a smile on your face, it’s pay day as well!

As your go-to guide for all the latest What’s On info, we love nothing more than writing lists and bringing you our top picks of the best festivals, gigs, restaurants, cocktails, club nights and family fun from across the region. We’re gearing up to make this first May Bank Holiday a special one and we’ve got 13 un-missable events taking place across the region this weekend to choose from…….check out this little lot..

1 – Smithdown Road Festival

Smithdown Road Festival has more than 150 acts lined up to play 13 different stages over 3 days. That’s a whole load of jammin’, plus truck loads of street food, drinks, crafts and kids activities too. Craig Charles, Space, Dave McCabe and many more will be playing across the weekend. 2 – Ancient Egypt: A Journey through time at World Museum

The much anticipated reopening of the Ancient Egyptian galleries at World Museum takes place this Friday and with more than 1,000 artefacts, 11 mummies and two pots of ancient eye-liner, you wont want to miss it. All the details here.

3 – FestEvol Gardens at Invisible Wind Factory

Check out one of the cities hottest venues, the Invisible Wind Factory, this weekend as FestEvol Gardens kicks off in it’s brand new location on Sunday 30th April, for one day only. 4 – Laces Out, Camp & Furnace

Calling all sneakerheads, Laces Out returns to Camp & Furness this Saturday 29th April, from 12 til 5pm. Expect thousands of rare, vintage, box fresh and dead stock trainees for collectors to buy, swap and drool over! More info and tickets here.

5 – European International Taekwon-Do at Echo Arena

Liverpool has a real affinity with martial arts and so we expect the Echo Arena to be packed to the rafters this weekend as the European ITF International Taekwon-Do Championships brings four-days worth of competition to the city. Get your tickets here.

6 – Sound Familiar Mega Music Quiz & Disco, Camp & Furness

Camp and Furnace have teamed up with quiz masters, Sounds Familiar to bring the ultimate pop quiz back to Liverpool this Friday. Grab your mates and chuck a few quid in to battle through hilarious rounds such as; Divas, Headliners, Modern Day Wet Fart, Slow Dance, Indie Disco, Decades of Dance, Mash It Up & Wheel of Forchoon. 7 – Celebrate Cinco De Mayo at Revolucion De Cuba, Albert Dock

Revolucion De Cuba invite you to party Mexican style and celebrate Cinco de Mayo throughout the Bank Holiday weekend. With a huge line-up of entertainment including live music, Samba dancers, face painters and food samples and great deals, turn up the heat at Albert Dock. More details here.

8 – Reggae Yard Party at 24 Kitchen Street

The guys at Kitchen Street decided it was high time they brought the reggae vibes back for a daytime session on the Friday of the May Day bank holiday weekend. They’ll be setting up a little rig outside and blasting out some summertime tunes. 9 – The Kooks, Liverpool Olympia

Having just realised their brand-spanking new video ‘Be Who You Are’ (which they shot in Morocco) The Kooks bring their ‘The Best Of…So Far’ tour to Liverpool Olympia on Saturday. Unsurprisingly the gig is a sell-out but if you didn’t get tickets, you can get your fix as the band returns to Merseyside for Sound City 2017. Find out more here.

10 – Joshua V Klitschko at Shooters Sports Bar, Liverpool One

If you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy the Joshua V Klitschko clash on Saturday, look no further than Shooters Sports Bar at Bierkeller, Liverpool One.
