5 Tweets that summed up River of Light 2017

We thought the fireworks on the Mersey last night we’re amazing and it seems like you lot did t00!

The start of November is always a magical time in Liverpool with families and friends of all ages coming together, getting wrapped up and enjoying the fresh air and fireworks fun and this year, River of Light came back to our waterfront bigger, better and louder than before.

Thousands of you lined the waterfront, on both sides of the Mersey and enjoyed banging drum beats, spectacular light shows, face painting and lantern crafts before a breath taking fireworks display out on the water. Here’s 5 of your tweets that summed up River of Light 2017….

1 – Katumba got us all warmed up

The pre show entertainment across the waterfront was superb this year. The Katumba drummers could be heard from Princes Parade all the way down the Albert Dock and back again. So cool to see and hear.

2 – This guy seemed impressed….

Incredible photos and videos flooded social media from the moment the River of Light fireworks began and with the added bonus of an electric soundtrack, the show undoubtedly knocked our socks off!

3 – The Liver Building has never looked so majestic

A sight we all know and love with a brand new perspective. The Liver Building was crowned with bursts of colour and light captured perfectly from The Strand.

4 – River of Light went national

We reckon it’s not just the BBC Breakfast team who were gossiping about our amazing city this morning. River of Light made the national news! Brush those shoulders off Liverpool.

5 – New Brighton ruffled a few pre-show feathers

New Brighton also came alive with pre-show entertainment on Sunday with lanterns, face painting and some long legged birds strutting around Marine Point. Loads of family fun.
