5 Upcoming Liverpool Gigs in November

Each fortnight The Guide looks at some of the best music gigs coming up in Liverpool. We trawl the listings of all the city’s venues to find shows which will appeal to different audiences – whether you’re a pop princess, an indie aficionado, 60s throwback or anything in between you’ll hopefully find a gem here. This time we’ve got disco legends, Liverpool maestros, rapping renegades and brilliant brass.

Friday 6th November

A veritable feast of scouse pop takes place at one of the city’s top venues on Friday night.  Former Shack man Michael Head headlines a bill of top quality music including the Sense of Sound Choir and many others playing to mark World AIDS Day. Part of Homotopia Festival, all proceeds from Celebration Of Life go to Sahir House which has been offering support, information and training on Merseyside for 30 years.


Hot 8 Brass Band @ Arts Club


Monday 9th November

One of the most fun bands touring at the moment, Hot 8 Brass Band perform sublime versions of pop classics through the medium of brass. Marvin Gaye’s Sexual Healing is reimagined as is Ghost Town by The Specials and many more familiar tunes. The New Orleans collective bring there funtime jams to Art Club, don’t miss it!


Joey Bada$$ @ O2 Academy


Thursday 12th November

Joey Bada$$ comes to Liverpool in support of debut album B4.DA.$$ with his World Domination tour. The Brooklyn-born rapper is winning lots of admirers in the hip hop community and you’ll be able to see why when his show (with support from Mick Jenkins and Denzel Curry) swings by.


Giorgio Moroder @ Arts Club


Saturday 14th November

The label gets thrown around far too readily these days, but this man is a bona fide legend. Almost single-handedly creating the disco genre with hits such as Love To Love You, Baby and I Feel Love, the Italian producer also has his finger prints on some of the most iconic movie sound tracks of all time including Scarface and Midnight Express. A special Evening With… event takes place at Arts Club on Saturday night – this one will be good.

Sunday 15th November

Take a trip back to the 80s at the Phil with these big names from an era which is having a bit of a renaissance recently. Marking the 30th anniversary of the Go West hit We Close Our Eyes this is a great chance to see pop legends doing what they do best. T’Pau join the line up to make it a triumphant triumvirate.
