The summer holidays in Liverpool are packed with amazing days out and events and we’re rounded up the best in one handy guide.


When it comes to keeping the kids occupied during the summer holidays in Liverpool, we’re aiming for maximum fun for minimum spend. From days at the beach and running about in the park, to family fun days, summer fairs and learning new skills, we’ve got 65 events, activities and boredom busting ideas to try out this school holidays.

If all that wasn’t enough, Arriva has launched a brand new teen m-ticket, taking the sting out of summer travel for parents. For just £20, kids under 16 can enjoy unlimited travel for 5 whole weeks. 1 – Summer of Champions, Liverpool ONE

Chavasse Park

Shopping, family dining and free family activities are the name of the game at Liverpool ONE this summer. Check out the sporting activities and live music line up here.

2 – The Ultimate Brick Safari, Knowsley

The UK’s Biggest Ever LEGO® brick safari arrives at Knowsley Safari on 20th July. The collection of 82 life-size LEGO® brick animals will be joining the real animals including Amur Tigers, giraffes, meerkats, bush dogs and wolves. More here. 

3 – Shaun The Sheep at Farmer Teds

The Guide Liverpool

Farmer Teds, Ormskirk is the only farm attraction in the UK to have the Shaun the Sheep attractions in permanent residence. Themed activities include Bitzer’s Kinetic Club House, reaction game Hog Splash, and navigation challenge Moley Moley. Mossy Bottom Crafts encourages visitors’ creativity with craft activities. 4 – Badge Making at Tate

5 – BBC Summer Social

BBC Summer Social is back for 2019 offering an even bigger and better line-up at Croxteth Park on 3rd and 4th August 2019. this year’s festival will see the likes of pop icons Busted, Nina Nesbitt, John Newman, Freya Ridings, and many of the kids’ favourite characters and attractions. More here. 

6 – Liverpool Indoor Funfair

The Indoor Funfair returns to Exhibition Centre Liverpool from 23rd August until 1st September 2019. With more than 20 attractions all under one roof and affordable wrist bands, this is a great ‘whatever the weather’ day out idea. More here.

7 – Kids Eat Free At Wheeler’s of St James’s, Marco Pierre White

8 – Otterspool Adventure

10 – Mermaids at SEA Life Blackpool

Grab a Blackpool Big Ticket online (in advance for maximum savings) and enjoy 6 huge attractions beside the seaside. Kids will love the brand new Marvel characters at Madame Tussauds plus there’s real life mermaids swimming in the tanks at SEA Life Blackpool too. All the details here. 

11 – KidsFest, Stanley Park

KidsFest returns to Stanley Park on 18th August. This free to enter community funday includes main stage entertainment, funfair, music, face painting and lots and lots of activities for children and adults to take part in. More info here.

12 – Pirate Party, Sefton Park Palm House

Grab your best Pirate-y fancy dress and head to Sefton Park Palm House on 6th August for a swashbuckling afternoon of nautical fun! Treasure hunts and sing alongs galore. Tickets here. 

13 – Colours, Festival of Princes Park

Princes Park L8 will play host to the Colours Festival on 3rd August. It’s free entry and there’s a whole afternoon of fantastic friendly entertainment. From live music, performance, street food and a real sense of community spirit. Find out more here. 

14 – Giant Bionic Bugs, Martin Mere

Summer days were made for exploring Martin Mere and this summer you can meet some giant, bionic bugs – as well as the usual ducks and geese! Pond dipping, animatronics, canoe safari and loads more. Info here. 

15 – Drama Week, Everyman Theatre

Are your kids age between 7 and 13 and want to see their name in lights? Everyman Theatre is running its brilliant summer holiday theatre school throughout August. Storytelling, improvisation and drama skills culminate in and end of week show. Find out more and book here. 

16 – FireFit Hub

Liverpool’s Super Youth Zone, FireFit Hub is gearing up for a summer packed with inclusive, affordable sport, music and cultural activities for kids and their families. Try your hand at DJ-ing, roller skating, Olympic weight lifting, kinball, street cricket and more. Info here. 

17 – Kids Eat Free at Yard & Coop

18 – Jumping Jacks 10th Birthday Party

19 – Superhero Day, Wirral Transport Museum

20 – SunnyCon Anime, Exhibition Centre Liverpool

Dig out your best cosplay as its time to dress up and look sharp at Exhibition Centre Liverpool. SunnyCon Anime, the U.K’s largest anime expo takes place on 10th and 11 August. There’s cosplay competitions, gaming, meet ups, special guests and loads more. Tickets here. 

21 – Summer Bushcraft Camp, Claremont Farm

A day of super fun bushcraft skills & exciting nature games awaits at Claremont Farm Wirral this summer. Let your children experience and explore the marvellous fun and adventure of the great outdoors. This one day event takes place over 5+ hours from 10am to 3.30pm; on 5 dates throughout August. 22 – Velocity

The UK’s biggest inflatable play park is just down the road in Widnes. Just a 10 minute drive from Liverpool, Velocity give kids the chance to really let loose and burn off some steam. Extreme drop slides, ball pools, gladiator arena and tonnes of space to bounce. Info here.

Merseyside has so much green space we could go to a different destination every day for a week and not get bored! Why not take a walk out to Hilbre Island from West Kirby, climb on board the Black Pearl at New Brighton and of course, get your sun glasses on an iron man in Crosby for the ultimate selfie.
