8 Reasons Why Liverpool’s Christmas Ice Festival is an unmissable winter treat for all the family
Have you checked out the Liverpool Christmas Ice Festival at the Pier Head yet…..no? Well what are you waiting for! Watch our video above for a peak at all of the icy action.
Not only are there tonnes of attractions from rides and thrills to food stalls and bars, but the location, right in font of the majestic Three Graces, just seals the deal as one of the MUST SEE attractions this Christmas on Merseyside. As part of the One Magical City campaign, the Christmas Ice Festival has something for everyone!
Here’s 8 reasons why it’s an unmissable treat for all the family.
1 – Say hello to our very own ice rink! And not only is it massive, at 600sq metres, its also undercover, so the rain showers don’t get in the way or your best Torvil and Dean impressions. There’s also cute little penguin gliders for the little and less-confident ones! You can pre-book a slot online here and beat the queues too!
2 – The penguins aren’t just on the ice! There’s a whole host of rides for younger festival goers including the penguin dodgems, Santa’s train ride, tea cups and the Dumbo elephants where little ones can have fun with the Disney characters they know and love. There’s also some great fairground games for the kids to have a go at, and don’t worry, no gold fish prizes!
3 – Stepping things up for the teenagers and young at heart, dare you take on the Ice Boost Blaster? Prepare to be catapulted up into the air for the ultimate rush, but remember, what goes up, must come down!
4 – One of the main attractions of this year is the adrenaline-pumping Ice Slide. At 6m long you’re going to pick up serious speed as you hurtle towards the bottom in your rubber ring. £5 per tickets which gets your three goes, and we guarantee you’ll want more!
5 – There’s loads of opportunities to take some great family photo’s at this years Ice Festival too. The giant Frozen snowglobe is a huge hit for all Elsa and Anna fans, plus there’s nutcrackers and Christmas trees all over the place so your treasured Christmas photo doesn’t have to be one of you on your bum on the ice rink!
6 – Alright mums and dads, you’ve stumbled across the ice rink, tested your nerves on the ice slide and paid for a tonne of pick n mix, how about a treat for you too? Pick up a poncho and grab a cocktail at the Ice Bar for a proper winter experience that doesn’t involve falling over!
7 – Get yourself over to the food and drink stalls to warm through after all that festive fun. With a swing grill full of burgers, there’s chips, pulled pork, peppered steak, crepes, mulled wine and a coffee house serving cakes and cookies too. The Apre Bar also serves up a great menu and has a fully licensed bar so relax around the fireplace and take in the gorgeous Christmas decorations while your sip!
8 – The Christmas Ice Festival is open from 11am-9pm weekdays and 11am-10pm on weekends and runs until January 3rd and is closed on Christmas Day. You can get involved with the action by posting your Ice Festival pictures on the official Facebook Page here.
