8 Reasons why a Sex and the City Samantha Spin-Off should be set in Liverpool
Sex and the City fans are buzzing about the news of a potential spin-off series based on the scandalous life of Publicist, Samantha Jones, played by Liverpool’s own Kim Cattrall.
US talk show host Wendy Williams mentioned that HBO is looking at launching a spin-off series and the following morning Kim further fuelled the rumour mill by tweeting the reply: “I’m so unbelievably flattered & moved @WendyWilliams Cant WAIT 2 get back 2 the serious business of making u all laugh! Fingers x’d.”
BUT we know Kim LOVES our home town, and is obviously a born and bred Scouser herself. She has already starred in shows here and visits often to see her beloved LFC. And we would get to see her all the time!!
We’re beside ourselves with excitement at the prospect of Samantha re-claiming New York however, how Uh-May-Zing would it be if she really came home?
Here’s 8 reasons why a Sex and the City Spin-Off should be set in Liverpool.
1 – Known for her love of a Dirty Martini, there’s no shortage of bars for Samantha and the girls to get their fix from Red Door and Alchemist to newly opened Neighbourhood and Sugar Hut Liverpool. Cosmopolitans all round!
2 – PR might only be Samantha’s second love, but Liverpool has taken its rightful place on the world stage with some of the events that have taken place recently. We reckon sassy Samantha could take on the Royal Liver Building as her iconic HQ and plan world domination…..one delivery man at a time!
3 – Samantha’s first love is undoubtedly men. The Liverpool dating scene isn’t too bad in all fairness! We can see her flashing a bit of leg at the Sugar Hut VIP launch next week in the hope of bagging herself a scouse stallion. Imagine that episode! “What do you mean you live in your ma’s box room?”
4 – Following neatly on, we’re a forward thinking city and we’re sure Samantha would spit a hilarious one liner having experienced a local GUM clinic. Anything more fun than being sat next to a character….. “Weren’t you in Pop World on Saturday girl?”
5 – The vast majority of Sex and the City scenes were filmed while the girls were having cocktails or brunch, and alongside all the city bars, we freaking rock at brunch. We can just imagine Samantha and the girls getting together for a gab at Moose & Moonshine or The Club House to have a bitch about Smith and Richard.
6 – The Sex and the City girls love a trip, whether its gambling in Atlantic city (we’ve got penny slots in New Brighton) or jetting off to Abu Dhabi for an Arabian adventure (Liverpool John Lennon Airport now flies direct to Marrakech?!). We reckon we can give New York a run for it’s money!
7 – The SATC girls LOVE high fashion, and Liverpool can hold its own with the luxury labels too! From Vivienne Westwood at Cavern Walks to Flannels and Michael Kors at Liverpool One. The title sequence to the series would have to be Samantha wobbling over the cobbles at the Albert Dock laden down with Cricket bags! Plus with The Clothes Show here next year and North West Fashion Festival returning they’d be in their element!
8 – The season finale would see Samantha strut down the candle-lit catwalk at the Cathedralwhen British Style Collective, presented by The Clothes Show takes over our city in 2017 for a weekend of fashion. Let’s hope no-one chucks a can of red paint over her AW
