Bean Coffee launches campaign to be the most eco-friendly with resuable cups discount

Bean coffee has unveiled a new 50p discount for customers in a bid become even more environmentally friendly.

As part of its ongoing campaign to become the most eco-friendly coffee shops in the North West, Bean Coffee have this week unveiled their new 50p discount for customers who bring their own reusable cups into store.

After seeing the impact that their 10p discount campaign had in 2018, saving over 10,000 single use coffee cups from being sent to landfill, Bean Coffee co-owners Jon Whyte and Vip Bhatt were keen to develop the campaign further and encourage more of their customers to ditch the single use containers.

Every minute 1 million takeaway coffee cups are used and discarded around the world, each taking around 30 years to decompose fully. With the long term implications of single use plastic becoming more recognised throughout society, small steps taken to cut down on usage can end up having a massive impact.

Jon Whyte said:” We were quite taken aback when we saw that the 10p discount had saved the use of over 10,000 cups in a year and it prompted us to think about how we could grow that figure in 2019.

“50p offer is one of the biggest discounts offered for reusable cups within the North West region so we’re really committing ourselves to this cause and we would love our customers to join in and help us reach the 100,000 target we’ve set for the next 12 months”.

As well as the 50p campaign, Bean Coffee have been implementing major changes throughout their company to make sure that every effort is taken to become more eco-friendly. This includes their current cups being 100% compostable, wrapping sandwiches in paper instead of plastic bags and the use of paper straws in all stores.

They roast their own beans close to their stores to reduce the amount of coffee miles and their shops receive their coffee beans in reusable buckets. They’re even working with Everton FC, who have one of their coffee shops within their Liver Building head offices, to eradicate all plastic associated with the in-house coffee shop.

With 14 stores across Liverpool and Manchester, Bean Coffee already have a dedicated customer base who are fans of their coffee and friendly customer service and they are hoping that many of them will embrace this new discount and join us in our mission to eradicate the disposable coffee cup.

Vip Bhatt, co-founder said “We’re really proud of the relationship we’ve built with our customers, we’ve got regulars that have been coming to our stores for years and we strive to create a friendly environment which feels like a community. We’d really love to see all those familiar faces come into our stores with their reusable cups and help us drive this campaign forward – and tell their friends about it too!”

As part of the campaign Bean will be also be using their social media channels to share with their followers the eco-friendly changes they’re making throughout the company, encouraging people to share shots of their reusable cups, and offering the chance to win a reusable Ecoffee cup with their favourite hot drink in it.
