Bridging The Gap Between Christmas and New Year’s
The week between Christmas and New Year can feel like you’re stuck in limbo. Christmas Day is done and New Year’s Eve is just out of reach, do you just sit and wait ? Course you don’t.
There are lots of events to keep the festive party, and holiday season, going throughout the city. From music to sports, partying to plays, it’s easier than ever to bridge the gap between Crimbo and NYE.
Boxing Night Parties
The Craig Charles classic Camp and Furnace event is sold out, as usual, but the fun absolutely does not stop there. Constellations have a stand out event as well as Magnet and Sanity Events’ second birthday at Underground. The festivities don’t stop on the 25th, so make sure you get your tickets now before they all go the same way as Craig Charles’ Funk & Soul Club and sell out. As well as that you can disco your boxing Night socks off at Stardust Liverpool, at the top of the Shankly Hotel. Featuring a line-up of the hottest disco DJ’s from both sides of the Atlantic, plus a wealth of local talent too. Click here to find out more and book your tickets now.
Home Alone Themed Bar, Cain’s Brewery Village
Throughout December the innovators at Ghetto Golf have been bringing us something extra special to get us into the season and make us feel like we’re living in a 90s US suburb. Home Alone is one of the most iconic Christmas films of all time, being shown on repeat around the season. Now you can immerse yourself in that world accompanied by a stunning setting, 8-piece band and DJ rasp. This is a fully functional bar, so only big kids allowed (18+) and tickets are priced around £15.
It wouldn’t feel Christmassy if there wasn’t a panto and, as usual, we’ve had a wealth to enjoy on the lead up to the big day. Snow White continues to wow crowds at St Helens Theatre Royal with Lucy-Jo Hudson and Man in the Mirror, Jonny Vegas (brought to you by the power of video projection, BUT who knows he might even show up in person one day!) Tickets available here.
Peter Pan is also continuing the swash bucking fun at the Epstein with our very own Claire Simmo and Dane Bowers. Book your place here.
And what about Beauty and the beast at The Black E? It is one of the cities most interesting, beautiful and overlooked venues that you should definitely visit. ]Disney remade Beauty & The Beast this year meaning that there is no better time to revisit this classic tale. Gather your beauties, and your beasts, to get the whole family down to this one. Running until 31st, now is the time to get your tickets.
Peaky Blinders Bar
The cities newest creative, culture area, Cain’s Brewery has been keeping us on our toes throughout 2017. If you thought that the Home Alone Themed bar was the last newcomer that we’d see this year, you are gladly mistaken. The Peaky Blinder Bar flung its doors open this December, marking the release of the BBC favourites latest series. Spread across two floors the bar transports you back to the early 1900s and makes you feel like one of the Shelby clan. Fancy dress is encouraged and, for once, actually means you’ll be the best-dressed people in the city. Tickets are available for New Year’s Eve as well, so get them now to be in with the right family.
Zimmer vs. Williams, The Philharmonic Hall – 27th December
Arguably the two biggest names in film composition go head to head this December in a battle that could see The Phil, and the audience, brought to its knees. This is a battle that sees, or hears; Superman and Batman take on the whole Star Wars galaxy and Indiana Jones. We’ll hear the mind and time bending scores from Inception and Interstellar take on the alien forces of E.T and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. This may sound like one for fans of classical music, however these soundtracks will transport to you the many universes in which these juggernaut composers have helped create.
Circus Christmas Special, Camp and Furnace – 27th December
Circus is one of the cities best-loved club nights and it’s back this festive period to remind us just why we love it so much. Spread across 3 rooms – Camp, Furnace and The Blade Factory, the Circus Christmas Special is bringing a line-up to be reckoned with. Headliners of each stage are Dubfire, Hot Since 82 and Lauren Lo Sung, respectively and top what is already an impressive bill. Starting at 2pm, with last entry at 4:30pm, tickets are limited so don’t waste any time.
Liverpool International Horse Show, Echo Arena – 28th – 31st December
Returning for it’s third year, the Liverpool International Horse Show takes over the Echo Arena with a feast of world class showing jumping and dressage, family entertainment, including Motocross Freestyle displays and live music. The show will include some of the worlds finest riders including Olympians and global stars who will compete for the ultimate Grand Prix Liver Bird Show Jumping trophy. Although this may sound like one exclusively tailored to horse lovers, the three day event promises to wow the crowd with unique family-friendly entertainment such as adrenaline junkies, FMX Riders, return by popular demand to deliver “knuckle-biting”, gravity defying stunts. There is nothing quite like this on offer, so if this sounds like your cup of tea, get your tickets before there are nay more left…
Prosecco Festival, Camp and Furnace – 29th December
Whether you’re enjoying a glass at Christmas, or for New Years Eve, the season wouldn’t be complete with a tipple of the bubbly stuff, and the folks at Merchant Pizza, in association with Camp and Furnace, have got you covered. On 29th December lovers of the fizz will be in prosecco paradise as producers of the bubbly stuff from across Northern Italy will be hosting tastings and master classes whilst Nightcrawler Pizza and Maray satisfy your stomachs with a menu perfectly paired with the selection of prosecco on offer. This NYE edition of the Prosecco Festival comes after the huge success of the August Bank Holiday bonanza. The day will be split into afternoon and evening sessions worth five free glasses on offer with every ticket purchased. For more details head here, and for tickets look no further than here.
