Elton John announces Echo Arena Date

Following on from the announcement of five huge summer dates next year, Elton John has now added another massive British show to his ‘Wonderful Crazy Tour’, this time performing in Liverpool at the Echo Arena for what will be a momentous occasion on June 14th 2016.

This run of UK summer dates will coincide with the release of Elton’s brand new album ‘Wonderful Crazy Night’, which will arrive on the 5th February 2016.

An unmistakable name in the history of popular music, Elton John has done it all – and then some. From being awarded multiple Grammys and BRITs, and even an Oscar and a Tony Award, Elton has proven his universal acclaim. In addition to selling more than 250 million records worldwide, through his partnership with lyricist Tim Rice Elton wrote the music for the feature film and Broadway stage production of ‘The Lion King”.

Elton first performed in Liverpool back in 1971, and has since then performed 12 shows in 4 venues in the city. Having given over 4000 performances in a career spanning more than fifty years, Elton said:

“The simple truth is I want to spend more time with my family, and I am only too aware of just how precious the time ahead is. My sons are growing up so quickly; their early years are just flying by and I want to be there with them. So these concerts will give me the chance to thank the British audiences who have been so faithful to me over these many decades. We cannot get to everyone but I am going to try and am very happy to be coming back to Liverpool for the first time in eight years. It is always a humbling experience to perform in a city that gave the world John Lennon and the Beatles, and so many other important bands as well. My band and I will do our best to live up to that tradition, as I have since my first show there at the Philharmonic Hall in 1971.“
Having performed at several of the world’s most recognisable venues – including a pair of residencies at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Elton John continues to be one of this country’s biggest pop-culture exports, and as such, welcoming him to Liverpool on June 14th will be a fantastic opportunity.
