Foodie Event of the Month – Food & Drink Festival 15th & 16th April
As far as ‘foodie events’ go, you can’t get much better than the Food, Drink & Lifestyle Spring Festival itself. The Sefton Park shindig attracts thousands of punters every year, with a Spring and Summer festival coming to town each year. The Spring edition of the festival features a lifestyle area full of arts & crafts as well as the obvious sweet and savoury stalls, hot drink stands and vendors to please those who fancy a little, Easter tipple.
Bring the entire family along for a jam-packed weekend on a new site location beside the Marie Curie Fields of Hope (at the end of Elmswood Road, opposite Aigburth Peoples Hall) Sefton Park. More here.
Deal of the Month – 50% off at Basuba every Monday
This month’s deal seems to be a little too good to be true. But, having been to the Thai taste sensation on Hanover Street on a Monday ourselves, we can tell you that there are no strings attached; you really do get 50% off your food bill every Monday. Basuba may be a national chain, however it has quickly been taken in to the hearts of locals as you can see it bustling with customers, and therefore atmosphere, almost every night of the week.

Dish of the Month – Pho at Pho
Did you notice the queue stretching down Bold Street on Mother’s Day weekend? That was because Vietnamese restaurant, Pho was opening its doors with a similar deal to that of the previously mentioned Basuba: 50% off! Since the place is called Pho, we thought that it would appropriate for that to be dish of month. Pho is a Vietnamese noodle soup/broth that can be done in many different ways. You can have it with chicken, pork, prawns, tofu, or the more traditional, beef. Often called ‘Rare Beef Noodle Soup’, this bad boy will make you feel satisfied, full and yet somewhat fresh and healthy. Eatery of the Month – Caribou
Caribou is a street food vendor that has taken a unique delicacy all over the UK, filling a gap in people’s lives that they had no idea was even there. The eatery now comes to Liverpool, with co-owner Lizzie Hurt being from the city, to fill a gap in our lives, and stomachs, that we didn’t know was there. The restaurant that will occupy Slater Street will specialise in poutine, a Canadian fast food dish that is renowned for being the ultimate comfort food.
The dish consists of chips topped with cheese, gravy and various other toppings. The gravy is homemade from a traditional recipe coming from Quebec, with the chef’s secret twist. All dairy products and meats will be sourced from British farms, and for you meat lovers out there, we suggest that you take a look at the sirloin steak, or pulled pork, options on offer. Veggie/Vegan Venue of the Month – Our Kitchen
It is new restaurant a go-go on Bold Street at the moment, which is fantastic for us food lovers. Even better news for the veggie/vegan contingent is that Our Kitchen is here to add another string to a growing bow of veggie alternative venues. Our Kitchen is decked out in as a very polished, yet homely feeling space, making it perfect for meetings, getting out of the house to work or catching up with friends.
The menu consists of delectable breakfast choices including gluten-free options, juices with intriguing names such as Black Beauty and Liver Tonic, as well as an afternoon/evening menu done tapas style with an array of small plates such as mini spicy bean burgers and brie and mango quesadillas. Brand new eatery, Hudson House Seafood & Bar are offering diners a perfect Spring lunch menu of small plates that are perfect for sharing.
