The Footy is Off but the Gloves are Back On – All the Info in this Week’s Liverpool Sport Guide

Your Weekly Guide to Sports in Liverpool 7th November – 13th November.

By Jacob Routledge

Winter is finally here guys, anyone who was down at the Pier Head for the River of Light event on Bonfire night will agree! With its dark nights and cold mornings, winter puts a lot of us in a ‘housecoat and slippers by the fire’ type mood.

Surprisingly though, most sports thrive during winter, so this is the best time of the year to start getting active and in shape. If you can get out for a run on a cold November morning, you will have no problem come June!

Check out this weeks guide to sports in the city, whether you plan on spectating or taking part, we’ve got you covered!

Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett vs Julian Erosa & Chris Fishgold vs Nic Herron-Webb

The terrible twosome are back at it this Saturday. Scousers Paddy Pimblett and Chris Fishgold will both attempt to defend their Feather and Light weight titles respectively this weekend, for the first time. The pair are touted as two of the best young fighters in the world outside of the UFC, and it wont be long until we see them flying the flag for Merseyside in the worlds biggest MMA promotion. Us Scousers always back our own and these two lads will need everyone cheering them on come Saturday night! Good luck lads!

Cage Warriors has also announced it will be coming back to Liverpool come 2017 and tickets can on sale this week. For a chance to see Paddy and Chris defend fight in the flesh, head over to the ticket office here . They’re selling like hot cakes so be quick!

Star of the Week

You might remember we told you about how our very own cycling Scouser, Andrew Rogerson, was nominated for a Pride of Britain award a couple of weeks ago for his epic cycle from Shanghai to Liverpool in order to raise money for the Anthony Nolan charity. Well unfortunately it wasn’t his night, but the nomination alone is testimony to how much of an affect he has had on the charity. We spoke to him last year when he arrived back in Liverpool, watch the chat above.
