Former Corrie star, Andrew Lancel brings Christmas home to Rufford

He’s been on the road with Cilla the Musical for 18 months and now Andrew Lancel is coming home to the North West for Christmas.

Rufford born actor and singer Andrew Lancel is returning to the West Lancashire village  and it’s historic Old Hall for two intimate concerts this Christmas.

Taking place on Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 12th December at 7pm, the stunning Old Rufford Hall, a place that has played a part in Andrews life since he was a young boy, will play host to a traditional Christmas song-filled event for people of all ages to enjoy.

A Christmas Return to Rufford will feature Christmas songs, West End hits and more as Andrew draws from his extensive experience on both stage and screen. The concerts will be an intimate, traditional affair with mince pies, mulled wine and a roaring fire, in the Great Hall. Andrew said: ” I’m a big fan of Christmas and what better way to celebrate than to get everyone together, families and friends for a sing-song in a unique venue.”

Known to millions as DI Manson and Frank Foster in ITV’s The Bill and Coronation Street respectively he is just ending a year long tour in the smash hit Cilla the Musical as legendary manager Brian Epstein. Having performed in concert and cabaret throughout Britain, it was a visit to Rufford Old Hall with his family that inspired the concerts.

“All my roots are in that village. I was born at home in Holly Lane and the Church flagpole is dedicated to my father and grandparents. Walking around the Hall with Lou and the kids was magical and brought back so many memories and we literally looked at each other in the Great Hall and smiled… and here we are.”

It’s been a busy year for Andrew and the cast of Cilla the Musical as they approach the last show of the 320 performance run. Any national tour involves lots of time away from home, father-of-two Andrew is looking forward to Christmas at home with his family, footy days at Goodison and officially saying goodbye to his on-stage alter ago, legendary manager, Brian Epstein. Andrew said: ” I’m so proud of having played Brian, I’ll be taking his tie off for the last time soon, it might get a bit emotional.”

An accomplished singer, Andrew has toured with his own show, three times sang at the Royal Albert Hall and won Celebrity Stars in their Eyes. A Christmas Return to Rufford is the beginning of a winning partnership with National Trust and its vast collection of historic properties.

Rufford Old Hall, near Southport, has played a part in Andrew’s family history for many years. The impressive Tudor building boasts suits of amour, a grand piano dating back to 1875, stunning portraits in the Drawing Room and beautiful tapestries, alongside centuries of history and stories of romance and even hauntings.
