Go behind the scenes of the world’s most famous club as The Cavern unveils this new history tour

The world-famous Cavern Club is giving people the chance to take a peek behind the scenes in a new tour being launched next week.

A brand new tour delving into the history of the world’s most famous club will give visitors the opportunity to see what happens backstage at the legendary Mathew Street venue, as well learning more about its 62-year history.

The free, 45-minute tours – led by guide Dale Roberts – will run every weekday morning except Wednesdays.

Dale will take visitors on a magical mystery mosey that not only offers a glimpse ‘behind the curtain’ at the Cavern – complete with anecdotes and fascinating stories – but also gives them the chance to stand on its famous stage.

The unique tour will start in the main room, and will then move up to ground level where people will learn more about the history of Mathew Street itself.

Then there is the chance to re-enter the Cavern through the original entrance – which is usually closed to the general public – before getting up on the front stage for a very special photo op.

The tour will also take in the dressing rooms, the club’s van bay used by some of the biggest acts in the world and their entourages, and the Live Lounge – with another photo op on its stage where Sir Paul McCartney played last year.

Dale, who is social media manager at the Cavern as well as an experienced professional tour guide, explains: “This is the first time the public will have been given a peep behind the scenes at the Cavern.

“It will be very informal and intimate – I want everyone on the tour to feel they are getting an experience that’s personal to them.”

Tours take place at 10.30am on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and are free.
