Here’s the plan for Liverpool Comedy Festival 2019
The Liverpool Comedy Festival is back again for its 18th year with a jam-packed delivery of giggles and guffaws right to your door.
This year’s Liverpool Comedy Festival is set to be #wellfunny as it shines the spotlight on how humour can make us happier and healthier, while showcasing some of the finest comedians in the land at the city’s best comedy venues.
There’ll be free comedy events popping up all over the city – keep your eyes peeled for the Laugh Mob, Comedy Festival Choir and now infamous World’s Smallest Comedy Club amongst others!
Headliners include the legendary Griff Rhys-Jones, star of QI and Have I Got News For You Sindhu Vee, Northern Joker Justin Moorhouse, star of Bobby & Harriet Get Married Harriet Kemsley plus Richard Herring brings his world-famous RHLSTP podcast to the Fest.
Pop up events
Don’t miss the one-of-a-kind Laugh Mob, set to launch this year’s Festival. It’s big. It’s top secret, and it’s going to grab you when you least expect! The biggest fit of the giggles Liverpool has ever seen is coming to Church Street. A mammoth Flash Mob will descend, freeze and start laughing in unison, complete with red noses and happy placards.
Once the raucous belly laughing has tapered off into a final hoot the choir will sing Ken Dodd’s Happiness and raise the spirits of all those in their path. What better way to begin a festival season of comedy and wellbeing?!
**NB: The Flash Mob will take place on Tuesday 18th September, 2pm, Church St (opposite M&S). This information is embargoed until the event has taken place.**
The Comedy Festival Choir will be popping up to lift the spirits of Liverpool at different locations across September. They’ll be spreading happiness with songs that are sure to raise a smile, serotonin levels and some major octaves! Who knows where they’ll turn up to tickle your fancy?
Venture into the World’s Smallest Comedy Club for a 3-minute blast of laughs in a 4 seat tent. We have booked some of the best comedians on the circuit and we only have front row seats! You never know who might pop up to give you a case of the giggles in the worlds’ most intimate comedy club setting. Find us at Liverpool One at lunchtime on Friday 20th September and at Liverpool’s Royal Court for the International Weekend of Wellbeing on Saturday 21st September.
Humour and Health
The groundbreaking year-round community projects delivered by The Comedy Trust will take centre stage in the studio space of Liverpool’s Royal Court. The Feeling Funny Mums, Youth and Men’s projects will all be performing new shows on the back of their projects that use comedy to tackle poor mental health.
The family friendly International Weekend of Wellbeing returns on Saturday 21st September with free performances in the Royal Court Studio plus a uniquely curated Wellbeing Marketplace in the Courtyard. Featuring a sound bath, VR meditation booths, a smoothie bike and forest bathing, the Weekend aims to signpost attendees towards additional and alternative pathways to wellness.
Plus the hilarious and groundbreaking Stay Awake Hypnosis – a guided meditation which attempts to prevent it’s listeners from relaxing by unsettling them with disturbing and worrying thoughts.
