It’s all eyes on the M&S Bank Arena as International Netball and World Cup action sweeps the city in 2019
Grab your bibs girls and get ready to pivot! The world’s Netball elite are heading for Liverpool.
It’s been an incredible year for International Netball and now you can see Commonwealth Champions England’s Vitality Roses go head to head with the world’s best teams at the International Quad Series and the 2019 Netball World Cup, right here in Liverpool.
The M&S Bank Arenawill play host to the Vitality Netball International Series, as part of the Netball Quad Series, on Sunday 13th January 2019 and the 2019 Netball World Cup on 12th-21st July.
The Commonwealth Games champions, England’s Vitality Roses will be joined by world champions Australia, New Zealand and South Africa to kick off the New Year on 13th January with a full day of thrilling court action that’s perfect for sport fans of all ages to enjoy.
We’re also in for a red hot summer of sporting action as the 2019 Netball World Cup brings 16 of the world’s best netball teams, 10 days of thrilling action and on 21st July, one team will be crowned world champions. Come on the Roses!
Having been catapulted into the spotlight throughout 2018, Netball has enjoyed a massive boost in popularity thanks to the sensational Commonwealth Gold Medal win against the Aussies, in Australia! Our national team, England Vitality Roses were also double winners at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards 2018 as the squad picked up both ‘Team of the Year’ and ‘Best Sporting Moment’ accolades.
England Vitality Rose’s Ama Agbeze said: “I keep on saying that Netball is the ultimate team sport because you need all of your team to be able to score and to win games.
“We hope there will be many more medals to come and just like football was coming home, we hope that Netball came home (in 2018) and will for many more years to come.”
A thriving sport in the North West, Netball isn’t just popular in schools. The Liverpool Netball League sees 5 divisions, more than 25 senior teams and 10 junior teams playing weekly matches in venues across the Liverpool City Region and numbers are growing thanks to England’s incredible success.
