LIMF 2019 - Our Jay chats with Nile Rodgers backstage at LIMF

LIMF 2019 Saturday night headline act, the man behind so many incredible singles, albums and accolades, Nile Rodgers joins us ahead of his highly anticipated set in Sefton Park.

When it comes to booking big acts, Liverpool has seen its fair share of mega stars, but none more respected and decorated in the music industry. With a career spanning more than 40 years, and its showing no signs of stopping, Nile Rodgers and his band Chic have been instrumental in bringing generations of music fans to LIMF 2019

Speaking to Jay ahead of his headline set, Nile said: “Liverpool for us Americans feels sort of sacred and legendary like, you know, Memphis, because of the Beatles.”

A LIPA Companion and regular visitor to the city throughout this career, Nile is essentially Mr. Disco and has produced and recorded some of the most instantly recognisable and successful tracks of all time. Nile Rodgers’ collab list reads like a who’s who of the music industry from the last 40+ years. David Bowie, Diana Ross, fellow LIMF 2019 acts Sister Sledge featuring Kathy Sledge, Madonna, Duran Duran, Grace Jones, Daft Punk, Pharrell, Craig David, Stefflon Don and loads more. From song writing to producing, he’s influenced some of the greatest albums of all time.
