LIMF Curator Yaw Owes gives us his Top Ten New Acts to see live at LIMF 2017

We are gearing up for one almighty party in Sefton Park this weekend. Liverpool International Music Festival or LIMF as we all like to call it is back in a BIG way.

Three days (with the addition of a very funky launch party in the Palm House) of incredible live music, every genre under the sun represented and thousands of music loving Scousers having fun – what could be better!

We will be bringing you all the action as it happens across the weekend on LIMF TV, you can watch all of our build up so far here.

Rather than us do the talking this week we have gone straight to one of the LIMF head honchos, Yaw Owusu has curated the festival since it began so it’s only fair we give the platform to him to choose his favourite artists. Check out his top ten DJ’s to see and his top ten live acts here.

This time though it’s all about the newbies, the ones to watch, the next generation of headliners…

Leading into LIMF 2017, I thought I’d do a few of my personal Top Ten things to check out.

This category is…Top 10 New Artists to Check Out…

LIMF is quite known for our support of emerging talent (see UK Festival Awards 2015 😉 ) and 2017’s LIMF is no different. Lot’s of great new talent and music for you to unearth or stumble across. Now everyone has their list – I’ve seen a few that I agree with too…But here’s mine.

Top 10 New Artists to check out

1 – Jessie Reyez (Sunday, It’s Liverpool Stage)

A singer with a message out of Canada. Listen and you’ll definitely remember her.

2 – Louis Berry (Sunday, Central Stage)

Amazing live performer and flying the flag for Liverpool for real.

3 – She Drew The Gun (Sunday, It’s Liverpool Stage)

Wonderful live and deserving all the love they are receiving right now!

4 – XamVolo (Friday, It’s Liverpool Stage)

Check him out to find out the reason why seemingly everyone is talking about the blacked out, round shaded jazzy soul guy.

5 – Youngr (Saturday, Central Stage)

Maybe a familiar face to people from the local scene but a new name but same unbelievable live show!

6 – Mary Miller (Saturday, Academy Stage)

A very very exciting new artist who is one of LIMF Academy 2017-18 Most Ready artists.

7 – Neil Noa (Friday, It’s Liverpool Stage)

Major ratings for this guy. If you don’t know, get to know quickly.

8 – SUEDEBROWN (Sunday, It’s Liverpool)

Really isn’t anything like him around…unless you are talking Kaytranada or Cashmere Cat or those boys. Yeah, he is that good.

9 – Ali Horn (Bandstand, Sunday)

Fully rate this guy. First time I heard his music it blew me away – hopefully it has the same effect on you.

10 – Eleanor Nelly (Saturday, It’s Liverpool/ Sunday, Bandstand)

Good songwriting, beautiful voice and wonderful spirit. Recently signed to Decca management, she has a very good future ahead of her.

So there you go, literally the next generation of LIMF headliners, don’t miss them and keep up to date on everything LIMF with us on LIMF TV across the weekend. More info and full lineup at www.LIMFestival.com
