Liverpool Music Weekend: Everything you need to know about 6 Music Fest & Threshold

There’s a phenomenal weekend of live music happening in Liverpool this weekend.

If you’re into your gigs, this weekend in Liverpool is unmissable. BBC Radio 6 Musical Festival brings a day, night and late showcase of the biggest, best and up coming artists to a number a city centre based venues. With live broadcasts from Mary Anne Hobbs and Steve Lamacq and BBC Introducing with Tom Robinson and Dave Monks, you can be in the audience as well as experiencing your favourite bands performing live in your own backyard.

There’s also the 6 Music Festival Fringe. This massive collab of local bands, venues and promoters is already underway and comes to a glorious finale at Jacaranda Records Phase One on Sunday.

Finally, making up part of the 6Music Festival Fringe, Threshold Festival returns for its 8th year in the city. Taking over the Baltic Triangle with more than 60 live acts in venues such as 24 Kitchen Street, Ditto Coffee, District and more, tickets have been flying out for this two day showcase of talent. 6 Music Festival 2019

All eyes and ears will be on Liverpool as it lives up to its UNSECO City of Music reputation as it plays host to the 6 Music Festival from 28th – 31st March. The line up is incredible and features not only huge names such as The Coral, The Good, The Bad and The Queen, Hot Chip and more, the event also brings the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs and Steve Lamacq to Liverpool to broadcast live. 6 Music Festival Fringe

The Fringe Festival is all about Liverpool and living up to our UNESCO City of Music reputation, a whole host of venues, promoters and artists have come together with Liverpool City Council to showcase the very best of our local talent. There’s so many events taking place. From Craft Taproom on Smithdown Rd to Sound on Duke Street and a huge 6Music Fest Closing Party at Jacaranda Records Phase One on Sunday 31st March featuring Peaness, Seatbelts, Kidsmoke and Liverpool’s own Rongorongo. Threshold Festival 2019

Back for its 8th year in the city, Threshold Festival takes over the Baltic Triangle this weekend. On 29th & 30th March you can expect a diverse mix of musicians, artists, producers, academics and more at various venues across the Baltic.

Threshold Festival Tickets

Weekend tickets, which gain you entry into all venues on both Friday and Saturday are just £22.25 including booking fee from Skiddle here. Individual day tickets are available from £11.25 inc booking fee too. Head this way to get yours now because they’re flying out.


Getting Around

The city is going to be buzzing this weekend and the cheapest way to get around all the venues is by public transport.

Merseyrail services will get to you and from the city centre with ease and in comfort right across the Liverpool Music Weekend. For 6 Music Festival city centre venues head to James Street or Moorfields and your nearest station for Threshold at the Baltic is Brunswick. Check out tickets and train times with Merseyrail here.

Arriva North West will get you from A to B with regular bus services to all venues from the city centre. Day tickets cost just £4.40 per adult and are valid for 24 hours, more info on tickets and bus services here.
