Liverpool Pride: We meet the first Transgender officer to serve openly in the UK Armed Force
Caroline Paige has an incredible story to tell about her time serving in the UK Armed Forces, and as she is from Merseyside, it is only right that she has been named a patron of Liverpool Pride.
Caroline retired from the military in 2014 but before that she served in Afghanistan, Iraq, Bosnia and intercepted Soviet bombers in the Cold War. Following her transition in 1999 Caroline was influential in promoting transgender equality and inclusion in the UK Armed Forces and still to this day gives talks around the world on the subject.
Her story is up there as one of the most inspiring stories we have ever heard and you can watch our full chat with Caroline above.
Liverpool Pride returns this weekend with the main festival site taking over Tithebarn Street from 1pm on Saturday where you will see the likes of Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Drag Act, Courtney Act. Before that the annual ‘Pride March’ will be launched by Caroline from St. George’s plateau at 11am.
