Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill, Liverpool: Delectable ‘date-night’ dining in the heart of the city
Marco Pierre White, the original ‘enfant terrible’ of the kitchen turned Michelin star chef and internationally renowned culinary genius doesn’t do things by halves, and certainly not at his Hotel Indigo based restaurant.
So it comes as no surprise that when he decided to launch his own inimitable style of dining in Liverpool he chose a pretty special location. The Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill at Hotel Indigo has been thrilling diners for almost eight years now and its popularity as a glamorous, cosmopolitan dining destination shows no sign of slowing down.
So what makes this culinary hotspot the go-to place for committed foodies and cocktail fans alike?
Just the right mix of urban chic and contemporary cool with more than a nod to the city’s past as a global cotton trading hub, Hotel Indigo feels like a neighbourhood bistro with all the swag of a city centre venue. Bright, fresh decor ; super-cosy booths in the heart of the business district yet only a short hop, skip and jump from the city centre and Albert Dock, it’s the perfect spot for an up-tempo business lunch or date night with a difference.
The menu is pretty mega here with so much to choose from but the steaks are undoubtedly the star of the show. Choose from a tasty range of cuts including Ribeye, T-Bone and Sirloin or go all with the delectable Chateaubriand for two (£58). Cooked just how you like it and served with vine ripened tomatoes, fresh British watercress, triple cooked chips or pomme frites and you can add a classic sauce for a small supplement (£3.25) Serious meat treat overload!
Pre, post or during dinner drinks – there are cocktails for all days of the week here!
Sure all the classics are catered for – Cosmo’s, Daiquiris and the like – but you simply must (in fact it’s an order) try the signature Cotton Candy Martini. Hands-down the most fun you can have in glass, this nod to the city’s cotton filled past is as delicious as it looks.
The MPW Effect
Mr Pierre White still oversees very element of the menu; from creating new dishes to sourcing the best ingredients so expect quality by the forkful. An innovative mix of some of his childhood favourites and globally inspired classics, it’s a clever and well thought out celebration of food at its finest.
Very, Very Good Value
Just because his name is above the door, you don’t have to expect celebrity chef prices here. There is always a great selection of tasty deals on offer. From the £5 cocktail happy hour (Sun-Thurs 5-7pm) to the incredible set menu deal (two-courses £16.95 / three-courses £20.95 Mon-Thurs from 5-10pm and Sunday 1300-2100) you can dine in style without breaking the bank.
