Rosa’s Thai Cafe confirms plans to open in Liverpool in Summer 2018
Rosa’s Thai Cafe, the successful group of London Thai restaurants founded by husband and wife – Alex and Saiphin Moore, will open its first site outside of the capital at the new Albert Dock development in Liverpool this summer.
Housed within a grade II listed former warehouse, the new Rosa’s Liverpool restaurant will be split over two floors and host up to 88 seated customers. The interior, curated by design agency Gundry & Ducker, retains the original open brickwork of the building, with huge arches looking out onto the docks and an open theatre kitchen. Paying homage to Albert Dock and Liverpool surroundings, Rosa’s Thai Cafe will take influences from its waterfront surroundings.
Launched by Saiphin and Alex back in 2008, Rosa’s Thai Cafe has become renowned for its punchy Thai food, using ingredients sourced as locally as possible: from British beef and lamb to butternut squash grown in the UK. Signature dishes include ‘Chicken satay’ and ‘Thai calamari’, through to larger mains such as ‘Salmon red curry’ and ‘Char-grilled aubergine salad’, and Rosa’s famous ‘Pad Thai’. For those with room for dessert there’s a concise selection of traditional and refreshing sweets such as ‘Mango & sticky rice’ and ‘Thai Iced-tea ice cream’.
Saiphin commented ahead of the Liverpool launch, “We are so excited to finally be able to confirm our not so secret news: Rosa’s is coming to Liverpool! It’s a great fit for us, a city full of genuine people who like to have fun and love good food. That’s what we’re all about, and its why we’ve chosen Liverpool for our first location outside of London. To have found such a great site at the Albert Dock is the icing on the cake and we look forward to welcoming Thai food fans to our new home there in the summer.”
Chris Wright, portfolio manager at Aberdeen Standard Investments, who has overseen the Albert Dock development commented:
“Securing Rosa’s Thai Cafe marks the first phase in our long-term plan to reinvent Albert Dock with an eclectic offering of restaurants, retail and leisure that Liverpool locals will want to visit regularly.
Liverpool’s restaurant scene is thriving at the moment and shows no signs of slowing down. Rosa’s Thai Cafe will be a first for the city and knowing how much the people of Liverpool love to try new concepts and flavours, we are confident it will be a huge success.”
