Showcase Cinema to undergo state of the art upgrade

We all have memories of visiting the Showcase on the East Lancs, back in the day it was the most modern and luxurious cinema we had, now 30 years later it’s set to get a huge upgrade.

Film lovers in Liverpool will soon be able to sit back, relax and enjoy the ultimate cinema experience when Showcase finishes upgrading its Norris Green site.

The cinema, which opened in 1989 and is 30 years old this year, is currently being upgraded to a Showcase Cinema de Lux, with the installation of recliner seating as standard and a new lounge bar located in the lobby.

Every seat in all 12 auditoriums will be replaced with fully customisable, leather recliner seating that provide the ultimate relaxing atmosphere to enjoy the latest blockbusters, Event Cinema and Flashback films. The luxury upgrade will come at no extra cost to customers, with ticket prices staying the same despite the amazing new features.

The refurbishment began on 25 February and the transformation into a Showcase Cinema de Lux will be complete by early May, in time for summer blockbusters such as Detective Pickachu, Rocketman, The Secret Life Of Pets 2 and Aladdin. The cinema remains open whilst the upgrade work is being carried out.

The new lounge bar will serve both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, as well as hot drinks from a Costa Coffee concession, making Showcase Cinema de Lux Liverpool the ultimate place to relax and be entertained before the movie even begins.

Mark Barlow, UK General Manager for Showcase Cinemas said: “We’re delighted to upgrade our Liverpool cinema to a Showcase Cinema de Lux, and know that filmgoers will be hugely impressed by the changes. We’re thrilled that our guests will not only be treated to a brand new lounge bar with a Costa machine which we are proud to serve, but will be able to enjoy all their favourite films in comfortable and state of the art recliner seating at no additional cost.”
