Steps are coming to Liverpool this Winter and we’ve got all the goss

We’re counting down the minutes and seconds as Steps return to Liverpool for a Party on the Dancefloor.

It’s been a whirlwind year for everyone’s favourite 90’s pop sensations, Steps. They’ve smashed the UK chats with new album Tears on the Dancefloor, topped the ITunes chat and even better news, they’re coming to Liverpool for not one, but two dates this winter.

Back in 1997 we were all boot-scooting to some of the most amazing pop hits and learning timeless choreography (did someone say tragedy?) and in all honesty, we’re not sure the awesome 5 some, Clare, Faye, Lee, H and Lisa, have aged at all since then! Since making their comeback announcement at GAY on New Years Eve, they’ve been busy recording, preparing and planning the UK tour that comes to our Echo Arena in November.

Ahead of the much anticipated Party on the Dancefloor UK Tour, we caught up with Chester-born Steps band member, Lee Latchford Evans for a chat about getting back into the saddle after a 10 year break. Having stepped behind the camera as well as in front of it this year, Lee is looking forward to bringing the Step-mania back to Liverpool and gives us the low down about those all important costume choices.

Here’s 5 (6,7…..8) things you need to know about Steps and the Party on the Dancefloor UK Tour…….

1 – One For Sorrow

Just in time for the Christmas party season, brand new album, Tears on the Dancefloor is bursting with 12 pop hits that will have you singing and of course dancing along. Lee explained that this is actually the first Steps album that doesn’t feature a classic Steps ballad, they’ve clearly been having way to much fun on the dancefloor then! Who’s ready for 12 new dance routines? Bring it on!

2 – A Deeper Shade of (Neon) Blue

Lee made his Assistant Director debut as part of the new album when he and his wife got involved in writing the story behind the Neon Blue music video. Aiming to focus on society and real life issues the track and video is about inclusion, feeling good and growing confidence, it’s bursting with feel good factor. It’s also Lee’s favourite track from the new album.

3 – Better Best Forgotten

Now even Lee admits that some of the costumes back in the day we’re a bit OOT, however you cant deny they made an impact. The story behind the whole colour coordination thing was that everyone would know you were part of the band, and it works. Now a bit older, Lee says the band has worked closely with the styling team to make more mature choices. Expect more monochrome than red pvc gloves this time around!

4 – I Know Him So Well

Did you know that Lee grew up in Ellesmere Port, Wirral and is a huge Everton Fan? He admits his season ticket is used more by his mum while he’s busy with the band but he gets to as many games as possible and recently played at Goodison Park as part of the Bradley Lowery Tribute match.

5 – It’s The Way You Make Me Feel

Lee told us that despite the 10 year break, the band is back in full flow ready to hit the road once again. Now a bit older and with families to consider the band members have been preparing for months to smash the 22 UK dates this winter. Following a major back operation 2 years ago Lee has been steadily hitting the gym and getting back into vocal training to put on a memorable show for fans right across the country. How amazing is that video btw?
