The Greatest Showman brings an ASBO to Camp & Furnace

Forget the rules, this is your chance to watch the movie of 2018 in a brand new, mischievous way!

If you’ve ever wanted to run away with the circus, this is your chance. The Greatest Showman has had us all spellbound since it’s release earlier this year and whether you’re captivated with PT Barnum and his entrepreneurial spirit, the love story between Anne and Phillip, the heart warming song lyrics and kindness of the bearded lady or just love the drama of the big top, there’s a September movie screening you cant afford to miss.

Camp & Furnace is set to host its next instalment of ASBO Cinema and you guessed it, The Greatest Showman is coming to town on 22nd September. This isn’t you average, pop corn, phones off, no necking on the back seats screening. You’re encouraged to get up, sing along and throw your hands and toffee popcorn in the air!

You can expect: The Greatest Showman on a 6m screen, mass singalongs, dance offs, lots of popcorn, themed cocktails, huge graffiti wall, themed photo booth, confetti cannons and prizes for the best Greatest Showman fancy dress costumes, so let your imagination run wild!

Here’s 8 facts you need to know about The Greatest Showman…..

1 – The Art of Persistence

Hugh Jackman, who plays the man himself, PT Barnum had wanted to make the movie for 7 years before film bosses agreed to make it a reality. Filming began in New York in December 2016 and the film premiered on the RMS Queen Mary 2 in December 2017.

2 – Hotting Up

Just like in the film, PT Barnum’s museum was devastated by fire, but in real life, it happened twice! Despite the set backs, The Greatest Show ran for 146 years and only closed its doors for the final time in 2017.

3 – Flying High

Actress Zendaya underwent months of rigorous trapeze training to play Anne Wheeler in the film, opposite love interest, Phillip Carlyle, played by Zac Efron. Doing all her stunts didn’t always go to plan! Body slamming Zac Efron on a daily basis….we’ve had worse days at work!

4 – Dressed to the Nines

Did you know that many of The Greatest Showman movie costumes came from the original Barnum & Bailey Circus? We’d choose Lettie’s dresses and the Woman in Gold’s outfits every time.

5 – Lights, Camera….

The Greatest Showman picked up a whopping $434 million worldwide making it the fifth highest-grossing live action musical of all time! It’s no surprise that award nominations came thick and fast, including a win for Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song for ‘This Is Me’.

6 – The Bearded Tracy?

Did you know that Bearded Lady, Lette Lutz, actress Keala Settle also played Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray. In fact, she’s starred as loads of amazing characters including Bloody Mary in South Pacific and Mrs. Fezziwig in A Christmas Carol. Keala made her debut on Broadway in 2011 in Pricilla, Queen of the Desert.

7 – This Is Me

The Greatest Showman Original Motion Picture Soundtrack has broken all the records since its release in December 2017. The album reached number one on iTunes in over 77 countries, in the UK, its only the second album 30 years to spend 11 weeks in the number one spot and it’s the longest running soundtrack at the top of the charts in 50 years.

8 – How Much Does an Elephant weigh?

It’s reported that the real life PT Barnum once tested the weight of the Brooklyn Bridge, with a herd of Elephants.
