Planning your shopping trip to Liverpool using public transport has never been easier. Road and rail links are frequent, reliable and some come with free wifi, keeping your connected while you travel.
Merseyrail operates a fantastic network across the Merseyside area and can transport you to the heart of the city in comfort. Connecting Chester, Wirral and Southport with the city centre, stations including Liverpool Central, James Street, Moorfields and Liverpool Lime Street are just a short walk from the shops. If you’re travelling by bus, leave it to Arriva to get you there. With free on board wifi, USB charging points and great value tickets, Arriva bus services run right across the North West. Jump off at Liverpool ONE or Queen Square and leave the driving to someone else. There’s plenty of room for all your purchases on the way home too. Get the Arriva app here.
If you’re driving in to Liverpool we’ve got some car parking recommendations that will put you right in the centre of town and close to the shops.
Liverpool ONE has two Q Parks to choose from. Here you can rent pushchairs and borrow umbrellas as well as leave you car in a safe, central location while you explore the city.
Queens Square Q Park is also just a short walk from the shops at St John’s Shopping Centre and the busy Church Street. It’s also just across the road from the Empire and Royal Court Theatres.
The brand new Victoria St has space for 333 cars and is really close to the Metquarter and city centre hotels. It’s just a short walk from here to the waterfront and city’s museums.
Liverpool’s Shopping Areas
Liverpool city centre is relatively compact but these 5 main shopping areas are packed with high street gems. From boutiques to independents, famous brands and some of the biggest stores in the world! Read on to get your bearings and plan your shopping trip to Liverpool.
Liverpool ONE offers something for everyone. The huge footprint includes luxury and high street brands such as Michael Kors, Reiss JD Sports, Footlocker, Zara and many more. There is also a leisure terrace with fantastic bars and restaurants, plus ODEON IMAX Cinema, crazy golf and Chavasse Park offering free events for families throughout the year.
Running from Hanover Street to the cross section with Paradise Street and Lord street, Church Street is a long, pedestrianised stretch offer the likes of M&S, Primark and the largest Lush store in the UK.
Lord Street is the continuation of Church Street and is book-ended by McDonald’s and Costa Coffee. Along this pedestrianised road you’ll also find a huge new H&M and lots of cash points at Barclays.
Bold Street is topped by Liverpool’s famous, Bombed Out Church (St Luke’s) and at the bottom you’ll find the Grade I Listed Lyceum. In between there are charity shops, designer boutiques, cat cafes, fancy dress stores, gift, book and art shops and many amazing restaurants and bars including Mowgli, Italian Club and Tabac.
Metquarter is home to the city’s Everyman Cinema and high end stores such as Jack Wills, Hugo Boss, Jo Malone, Kids Cavern, TM Lewin and Kurt Geiger. You can also browse the latest looks at MAC and Jo Malone and relax with a rich, Italian coffee at the likes of Costa, 200 Degrees Coffee or Antonio’s.
The Stores You Must Visit
No shopping trip would be complete without a visit to these must-see stores. 5 floors of Primark bargains, the most beautiful diamonds, suits and boots for the guys and Lush even has a sushi style bath-bomb bar. Check out this little lot and start making your ‘must-have’ shopping list.
Morphe, Liverpool ONE
