There’s a night of Port Tasting happening at Lock & Key this week

Port, one of the most under-rated after dinner drinks, and if you love it, or maybe want to learn a bit more about it then there is a night for you this week in Liverpool.

Otherwise known as ‘vinho do Porto’ or as we call it ‘port’, is a Portuguese fortified wine produced in the Douro Valley in Portugal. It’s typically sweet and red in colour and often served as a dessert wine.

On Thursday 8th February, Lock and Key Bar & Kitchen on Duke Street invite you to experience the drink in all its glory as they are joined by expert Marco, who is from Martins De Sa.

Martins De Sa is a premium port producer with six vineyards in Douro Valley and on Thursday you can get a taste of all of them as Marco gives you the opportunity to try his exclusive portfolio of ports, together with an insight into how they are produced and what makes them so different.

The evening will start with a Port cocktail on entry, Marco will then talk you through his range of Ports as you try them. The Ports will be accompanied by carefully chosen food pairings, made fresh at Lock and Key’s kitchen. You will also have the opportunity to try a special rare aged, vintage port too.

Lock and Key, Bar & Kitchen was born on Duke Street late last year and has fast become one of the city’s favourite hangouts.

The bar is hot spot for those who appreciate a sophisticated night out, offering an array of craft beers, wines and a special “Lock & Key” themed cocktail menu. Whilst the kitchen serves up an extensive breakfast, lunch and dinner offering, 7 days a week.

The next chapter of the Lock & Key story will be the opening of its stunning, 14 room boutique hotel which is expected to open early Spring.
