Tis the Season to Sparkle: 8 Christmas Party Trends to Rock this December

By Esbea Rowland

It’s Christmas Party season and have we got a trend report for you! We’ve teamed up with Liverpool’s Rare School of Fashion and one of it’s top students, Esbea Rowland to bring you 8 Christmas party trends to help you nail your Christmas Party look.

We all like the idea of being ‘On Trend’ but which high-end looks have made the leap from Catwalk to Castle Street this December? The high street brands do an amazing job of bringing haute couture to the masses, but eternal style is all about finding what works for you. Why not give these AW16 Christmas party trends a try when you glam up for your Christmas do?

1 – Velvet

Don’t freak out! Of course you can channel your inner Amanda Priestly and go head to toe, but with velvet, less is definitely more! This AW16 trend can work with any outfit. Whether you go for thigh high vevet boots in nude or mink, or max out in Zara on their cute mini shift dresses or wide leg trousers. Give your Christmas Party look some texture!

2 – Leopard Print

A timeless classic, if done correctly. Is your inner feline trying to claw its way out this Winter? Then you’re a paw-print ahead with this go-to classic trend. Leopard print has once again made the list, and we’re not talking subtle little spots, we mean full on Queen of the Jungle prints! Topshop showcased their kitty fever from tip to toe, showing us that full-print garments can look puuuuuurfect too!

3 – Roaring 20’s

Inspired by 1920’s, the cami dress has come back with a bang. Heading from our underwear to outerwear, it’s the timeless piece that’s perfect for any occasion. River Island has brought out a cami mini that requires dainty accessories to reclaim that boudoir look. You’re definitely getting a snog under the mistletoe in this little number, no doubt!

4 – The Cold Shoulder

Accessorise with a cute clutch, a berry lippy and some sky-scraper heels. Party Ready!

5 – Let’s Get Physical

Bodysuits have been an iconic item since way back in the 80’s, but leaving their sportswear origin behind, the versatile bodysuit has had a 21st century update, with the all-in-one being a wardrobe staple for day to night looks. These beauties can be found all over the high street and even supermarket clothing lines, but ASOS is our fave outlet with an amazing range, from basic to embellished.

6 – Raw Hide

Classics Leather and Suede have reclaimed their place in our hearts for winter outerwear, but with a chic coating rather than rocker vibes. We love the luxe leather range from Reiss, with outfit enhancing jackets that may cost a little more than you’re average secret santa gift but look at it this way, you’ll definitely still be wearing the jacket at your crimbo do, 2017, and besides its Christmas, treat yourself! The Bryony is our fave!

7 – Ruffle a Few Feathers

We love a good ruffle in Liverpool and what better time to be a fan than at Christmas, bows and ribbons a plenty!Kenzo AW16 was full of deep blue and pastel pink oversized ruffle dresses this season, that wouldn’t look out of place on Concert Square this December. However, for those looking for an affordable alternative, look no further than Next! Also…..never underestimate the elegance of a good peplum at affordable, high street prices!

8 – Seeing Red

Red eyes are usually a result of a good Christmas Party, but this year beauty trends are pointing towards getting your maroon shade on, before you leave the house! Eyeshadows from Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern: Renaissance pallet, Kylie Jenner’s Burgundy pallet, and Mac’s Candy Coated range have sent Beauty Instagrammers into a spin this season. Usually used as a base, reds and orange shades are used to create gradient but they’re taking centre stage this Christmas as every makeup artist snaps up warm pigment items by the bucket load!

So whether you’re a dedicated follower of fashion, or a hair-swishing trend setter….embrace the look that allows your personality shine through this Christmas!
