Watch as we meet the cast of Cilla the Musical at Liverpool Empire

The show everyone is talking about has opened its curtains inside our Liverpool Empire and if opening night is anything to go by it is looking like it will be the next big theatre smash.

Cilla the Musical is the spectacular and heart-warming musical adaptation of the critically acclaimed hit ITV television series by Bafta-Award winner Jeff Pope. It tells the extraordinary story of the ordinary girl from Liverpool whose teenage dreams of stardom lead her to becoming one of Britain’s best-loved entertainers of all time.

It runs at the Empire until 16th September and stars newcomer Kara Lily Hayworth as Cilla, who last night was given a standing ovation for her portrayal of the music icon. As well as that Liverpool’s Andrew Lancel takes on the role of Brian Epstein and when talking about Kara told us “you are literally watching a star being born”. We met Andrew and Kara upstairs at the Liverpool Empire to find out more about the show – watch the video above.

Other cast members include Carl Au who plasy Bobby, Amy Bridges takes on the role of Rose Willis, Gemma Brodrick-Bower who starred in the original ITV show plays Cilla’s bezzie Pauline, Paul Broughton plays John White. As well as that Bill Caple (Ringo Starr), Tom Christian (Kenny Willis), Tom Dunlea (Hutch), Pauline Fleming (Big Cilla), Joshua Gannon (Paul McCartney), Billie Hardy (Pat), and Michael Hawkins (John Lennon).
