Watch: This was River of Light 2018
Thousands of us flocked to both sides of the waterfront to watch River of Light and what a show it was!
River of Light, sponsored by Royal Liver Building 360, returned for it’s third year on Sunday 4th November 2018 with a fireworks display that marked the finale of the 8-month long China Dream celebrations that have taken over the city.
Watch the full River of Light 2018 highlights above and see if you can spot yourself amongst the waterfront crowds.
Brand new for 2018, The Elements, 4 specially commissioned light art installations, lit up the Liverpool side of the Mersey for three days head of the firework show. The Wave, situated on The Strand proved most popular as the triangular structure reacted with a spectacular light show when people passed through. Were you even at River of Light if you didn’t get a Wave Selfie for Instagram!?
Elsewhere on the Albert Dock and Pier Head, families, groups of friends and couples spotted the fire-breathing dragon which sailed from dock to dock entertaining the masses. This year’s street performance offering was just superb as fire dancers took to Mann Island basin and the Pier Head before the show.
Also returning to the city, fireworks impresarios Titanium took to the River Mersey with three barge type boats loaded with enough fireworks to light up the skies above the city region and beyond. Firework fans over on the Wirral may have had the best view as from 6:30pm, they saw the stunning Liverpool city skyline light up with 15 minutes worth of incredible pyrotechnics, all set to a thrilling soundtrack including Firestarter by The Prodigy and Titanium by David Guetta.
Sponsored for the first time by Royal Liver Building 360, a new tourist attraction being delivered by Heritage Great Britain, set to open next year, River of Light 2018 was everything we hoped it would be. Another brilliant, free event for people of all ages to enjoy, right in the heart of our amazing city.
